Lets add this to the list of thing we notice going on in our EDs that just seem wrong:

I got called back to our psych holding area yesterday. Psych in Vegas is a horrific disaster and all the ERs around town hold dozens of psychs waiting on inpatient psych beds. I walk in and there are about 10 psychs all intently watching the TV which is showing.......Silence of the Lambs.🙄 It's like smoking while you pump gas.

That's almost as fun as having the paranoid schizo who thinks that the aliens are coming for him in the lobby when the movie alien came on:laugh:.
There was another paranoid one who was convince that the cops were filled with daemons coming for his soul, there just so happened an injured officer in the next bed an subsequently 20 or so cops coming in and out, hilarious!

My favourite thing would be the patients sent to LVMH (Las Vegas Mental Health) who are promptly put in an ambulance and sent to my ER for "medical clearance". Once they are medically cleared, you would think they would get an automatic ticket back to LVMH, right? Nope, they get stuck in our ER for 3 days waiting to be "evaluated" for psych admission.

Not to mention the fact that the day physician has to do daily rounds on all the psych patients and write "progress notes".

One would think the casinos could chip in and build a state-of-the-art facility to treat all of the addiction-related mental illness that they are exacerbating.
