I know, I know it's super early. And there's no need to panic if no invites, etc. etc. But I thought I'd get this started because I just scrambled to turn in ERAS after hours of toiling on that stupid personal statement, it's 4th year, there's nothing else to do, and I'm feeling restless with all the wai...ting...so hopefully this will give us an idea of when schools are sending out invites, etc.

So far: have heard from Kaiser in Oakland, CA - categorical, heard on 9/12.

Here's hoping others have some good news to post soon 🙂

bumc dallas is the premier one i believe...the people getting interviews at washu and southwestern..are you guys regional? tx.

1. The 'premier' program is Baylor Houston, the one associated with Baylor School of Medicine. Baylor - Dallas is a community program and not associated with BSM, but they do a couple rotations at Parkland... the UTSW hospital. Its a very good community program with decent fellowship match and a nice hospital.

2. I also got an invite from Wash U today, I'm from Texas. Definitely not regional. Interestingly, the email only offered inteview dates through 8/14, I had to call to set one up an January.

Univ of Pitt, Baylor (Dallas)

I'm not regional, (unless we're talking about the armpit of America, in which case I'm front and center...)

Congratulations to everyone on all the wonderful interview invites! Special shout outs to Wash U and Cook County. Didn't apply to those great places, but heard lots of good things about them.

Applying to 20-something programs because my boyfriend is looking for a job all over the country in GI next year.

Been lucky so far, with only 1 letter of rec in and school transcript not yet uploaded: UTSW, U of L, Dartmouth, Yale-Bridgefort, UTMB, UT-Houston, Baylor-Dallas, U of Arizona, U Pitt

as a recent survivor of the residency match process, now at UCSF IM, I would encourage everyone to get their ERAS apps. in as early as possible with their (non deans) letters in as soon as you can. I had some trouble getting faculty letters finished but now really is the time to be banging on doors and making yourself visible so that your overworked faculty mentors remember how important these letters are. I had friends with similar applications who got theirs in later and were less pleased with the outcome of the match. good luck and remember that for the most part, IM is a buyers market.

Interviews @ Winthrop in Mineola, NY and UMDNJ-RWJ

Yeah I believe it is still early for people who have not received any invites yet. Some schools want all your LORs in, others maybe waiting for the transcripts to be released, etc etc.

on avergae, how long has everybody waited to hear from programs after submitting applications?

usually very long for me. have not heard any response at 90% of programs I apply after 19 days of submission of my application.

My first invites were after 2 days of submission, but it's been approx 2 weeks and I have yet to hear from 16 different programs. I have heard that typically invites will start comming in around mid-October. It's always positive to know that applications are being carefully reviewed right? Best of luck to you. Will update regularly.

thanks for the insight to all who responded so far. I just submitted my application today, but found myself obsessing over this seemingly un-answerable query!

UMDNJ, Abington, UT Galveston

Mayo Scottsdale today.

Wow! Congrats! I have to say i'm very envious as I sit in Allergy Clinic today. HeHeHe. Out of curiosity, when did you turn in your apps? 😕

I phoned Scottsdale today and they said that the director has been away for the past week or so and has not looked at any apps. I was told to be patient for another 2 weeks.

no interview for this whole week.🙁

Vandy today as well... coming in pretty slow

'bout what time last year did people start hearing from the big boys...aka Havahd, Hopkins, Penn, Duke, etc.?

1. WashU
2. UMich
3. Vanderbilt

UTSW, U of L, Dartmouth, Yale-Bridgefort, UTMB, UT-Houston, Baylor-Dallas, U of Arizona, Pitt, Vanderbilt (today)...

My boyfriend told me to aim for 10 interviews? Any comments..when my sister did dermatology she went to 12 interviews.

Vanderbilt.

I have heard also the "ten interviews" is good enough but not sure....My friend applying to derm is doing waaaay more than 10 though.... 🙂

re. last year. I don't think that I got interviews from UCSF, BWH, MGH until the end of november. it is very possible that better applicants got interviews earlier. I think that Duke, Yale were scattered throughout october and november but after deans letter came out if I remember correctly. don't know about hopkins, penn didn't apply.

Vanderbilt.

Not sure about derm but a classmate of mine (MD/PhD, AOA) who applied Ophtho 2y ago applied to 90 places and went on 40 interviews. Most of the folks I know who went IM played the 10 interview game, +/- 3 places. I interviewed in way more places, not so much b/c I didn't think I'd match but b/c I really wanted to leave where I was and didn't know where I wanted to go so I applied very geographically broadly.

Does anyone out there have a time frame for chicago interviews... specifically Northwestern and U. of Chicago? Do they wait for the Dean's letter or do they go out sooner? Those who interviewed there last year, when was yours?
Thanks.

So I don't know how programs might be changing things this time around, but this might help:

"2006 Interview Invites Thread"

Meanwhile, new offers include UT Houston and UT San Antonio, received a couple of days ago.

Kaiser (Southern Calif) sent out an email indicating they were looking forward to "getting to know applicants" better; won't start reviewing applications for categorical programs until October.

finally got my first one this morning. submitted 9/10.

Invitation to Emory came this afternoon

Got an email from Northwestern stating they've "...received the app and look forward to reviewing it..."
They provided the following web address for any further info:
www.medicine.northwestern.edu.

Hope that helps

Yea, I got that one too, a little vague. Thanks for passing it along though, I will have to check out that link.
We seem to be applying to a lot of the same programs, WashU, Vandy, NW... probably will be see you along the interview trail.

Did anyone who applied to Northwestern not receive that message? Is it supposed to mean anything?
