The 2007 Interview Invites Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.

So far:

Also, I got the NW email.

UTSW today.

They have 9 interview dates and plan to interview "no more than 50" candidates per date." This means they're interviewing ~450 candidates for roughly 40 slots...

Seems like everyone is getting the same interview invitations on this thread, it also seems like these programs are interviewing alot of applicants...

Anyone from the northeast get interviews at Wash U, Baylor, or UTSW?

It seems like I might meet a lot of you on this thread on the interview trails!
UTSW, U Colorado, Baylor-Dallas, Mayo-Scottsdale, Wash U, Kaiser Oakland, UT-H, UTHSCSA, U of Michigan thus far. Today, Huntington - Pasadena.

Application out on 9/18

Offered interviews:
Wash U (9/24)
University Wisconsin (9/25)

[sigh]. None yet, although luckily I'm only seeing invites for one of the programs I applied to. Any MD/PhD'ers getting interviews? I've heard that they sometimes get put into a "different pile" for consideration.

dantay, did you apply to the ABIM research tracts or just regular categorical?

Abington
UMDNJ
Baystate-Tufts
UTMB Galveston

Are any of you looking at the number they interviewed last year? I've been looking at it seems some interview like 300!! 😱 Makes you wonder how legit the interview is - (ie, do they interview EVERYONE?) 😳

The places I applied interviewed between 200 and 450 applicants, with a range in entering classes of 25 to 74. (I don't know if they include prelim spots in the interview category - that might bump it up a little)

Anyone get any Chicago invites? So far my on IL invites are from advocate and Peoria...

Hi all, so far invites from: Kansas, Iowa, Cincinnati, Utah 😀

same for me with advocate and the generic NW email. didn't apply to peoria, though. general consensus in my class is that the IL schools are responding a little more slowly than those in surrounding midwest states.

UC Irvine interview invite thru ERAS/email this afternoon.

U of South Carolina
Abington Memorial
Tufts - Springfield
UMDNJ

To the above poster, is that Medical university of south carolina in charleston or university of south carolina school of medicine in Columbia??

Does anyone know anything about the im program in oklahoma city? i was hoping to do my prelim year there. Have they sent out any interview invitations?

I've heard that most programs interview 7-10 people per available position.... regardless of specialty.

one program i applied to has 17 interview dates X 15 interviews per day = 255 interviews for 22 categorical and 20 prelim spots.

that's about 6 interviews for each spot if prelims don't have separate interview dates (16% chance of matching).

if they do, it's about 12 interviews per spot (8.6% chance of matching). 🙄

1. WashU
2. UMich
3. Vandy
4. Emory
5. Univ of CO (yesterday)
6. Mayo Rochester (today)

I would agree with the poster encouraging files to be completed as early as possible.

We have many files awaiting action due to not having transcripts - at least for me, this is a bigger issue than letters. I personally don't need 3 letters to invite someone for an interview, though I am sure there are many programs that require everything to be complete.

MUSC = Charleston

USC = Columbia

Hoep this helps!

I have not heard from Baylor Houston, only Baylor Dallas. But did get the invite for UT-Houston a week and a half ago, I think?

I have not heard back from Baylor in Houston. I tried to coordinate interview w/ UT-Houston and UTMB, but was told that invites will not be sent out until late October. I heard back from Houston 1 week after my submission. I'm from the East Coast.

so i guess only UT houston and UTMB galveston have sent out invites in the houston area.

1. Wash U
2. Vandy

Congrats on Duke! Have not heard from them yet and I submitted pretty early, when did you submit out of curiosity? 🙄

I submitted it 9/14. I only have one LoR in though, I have had to bug the other three like crazy! Also minus Deans letter of course, everything else in.
