The 2007 Interview Invites Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
haven't heard from fexo...she is either giddy with excitement because of her invites to the harvards, and jhu or depressed passed out next to a bottle of jim bean, and qualudes...you alive fexo?😉 ... just kidding, hope for the former

No, you're right, my bad. I will cancel a few of these that I am absolutely sure about tomorrow, as well as some others that I did not list. I sort of applied very broadly because I wasn't sure where I'd hear from, and where I want to go.

Again, that wasn't directed at you, rather at everyone with more than 10-12 invites...there are many, many others on here.

What's the secret recipe for uwash, eh? 😉

Wish I knew...I got the UWash rejection this afternoon. I think it was Linus that got the invite through "persistence."

Is the well known Northwestern the one in Chicago or the one in Evanston?

Northwestern-Chicago is the more well-known program.

I think Northwestern Evanston is a nice community program as well. I was gonna apply there but decided against it at the last minute.

I guess to throw out some sort of disclaimer I did do an away rotation there. However being the ever-unready idiot that I am I didn't talk to anyone in the medicine department there and my rotation was at Harborview. I sent a really nice e-mail to the program director basically stating how I liked UW and would love to interview and I just was e-mailing to see if my application made it through etc. I did the same thing to Duke as I want to check out the program..and was met with silence.

Have to admit I'm not putting in much faith into my interview at UW. Seeing as there are so many people who are waaaayyy more qualified than I am get rejected, I'm guessing my interview is more out of courtesy than anything. hahaha I thought my stats weren't too bad but after seeing some of the champs on this site holy moley I should show to interviews with a dunce cap :hardy:

It will be very interesting to see the "Charting Outcomes of the Match" 2008 edition...the credentials of people being rejected at 2nd, 3rd, and 4th tier schools this year is quite unsettling.

I think we should start a thread for "Applicant Profiles" where we list our stats, our invites, and our eventual match...this would be similar to the "compiled Step 1 experience" thread where applicants list their class rank, study materials, NBME practice scores, and their final USMLE score.

It appears that AOA status guarantees an interview at JHU, but at the other tier 1 schools it's a toss-up. It also appears that some programs (i.e. Yale, Emory, Duke, and Columbia) favored early application submission, rather than absolute credentials.

Woohoo BID today, that's it I am officially done with interview season. Still awaiting UChicago to confirm my iterview. Based on that I will either drop UTSW and UColorado or Wash U. BND I totally agree with your idea, that would be great. I think it's said every year but I really think this year's process is entirely random.

Yea, I am not sure about that. I still haven't received Duke or Columbia. Who knows??😕

Hey all,

Heads up...I just called a major program as I had not heard from them. They said that they sent me an invitation to interview SEPTEMBER 24, and I never received it in either my ERAS or email. As well, I received an invitation to interview from another high tier program earlier this week, with a note stating that they intended to give me an interview eariler, but accidentally overlooked my name when actually sending the invitations. Maybe they are both lying and they feel bad so they figured, meh, give the kid an invitation, but still, you may want to call some of the programs you haven't heard from to check on the status of your application.

Have a great Thanksgiving.

Stanford today. Looks like they are still reviewing files.
I'd say that for the programs that have sent rejections out, if you haven't heard from them, its a good thing.

Still waiting on 2 more programs, U wash and Cornell

How do you contact these programs. When I called Duke using the number supplied by ERAS, they give you a voice message directing you to the webpage.

No way! Which number did you call, I was able to talk to the secretary (who wasn't helpful at all and pretty irate. I'm guessing I must have been the 100th caller about their program.) They told me that notifications will be final come November 30th. I think that if you haven't heard from them by now consider it a goner! (That's what I've tearfully done )

Fight for your right to interview...it's like asking out hotties at the bar, you're gonna get several "no's" but the one "yes" will make it all worthwhile.

NW today! 😍

My N=1 experience says otherwise. We all love recognizing patterns, but I don't know if any apply in this situation.

University of Washington today. Looks like this school is still reviewing applications. When I called for the interview date there were still 3 dates open, all in January.

mt. sinai today😍

they seem to have quite a few dates open! g-luck everyone!!

mount sinai yesterday.

Interviews: uc davis, scripps green, northwestern, u. mich., ucla, stanford, cornell, utsw, cedars-sinai, kaiser-sunset, washington university in stl

Heads up to all those waiting for UChicago. I called and was told all final notices of inteviews/rejections will be sent on/by Dec 7. Another week to wait...

Best to all

yeah I recently changed my U of C interview date and they had quite a few days open! so they do have some slots available!

Good Luck guys!

u washington today!

waiting on yale and duke, and it's all over then.

baylor today. they had a bunch of dates open.

baylor today. they had a bunch of dates open.
Thats interesting- I am an IMG who scheduled an interview at Baylor ( BCM- Houston) recently and they had only one slot- -1) are we talking about the same program?
2) Is it normal that programs interview AMGs and IMGs separately? I noticed something similar at another interview too- the IMGs interviewed on some days and the AMGs on others

Yale New Haven today - Traditional program

(I got the Yale New Haven - Primary Care a while ago)

AWSOME!

For the poster above, I think they interview AMG's and IMG's/FMG's together! thats been my experience..... I was at one interview where I was the only AMG, and another were there were only 2 AMG's (myself included) and the rest FMG's/IMG's, my last interview at NW there was mainly AMG's but one or two FMG's. So bottom line, I am pretty sure most programs interview them together.... I don't think it should matter

Good Luck all 🙂:luck:

Heard from last 2: got yale new haven today, was rejected at duke (expected).
it's all over!

I can confirm that there are ALOT of available dates at Baylor...

Has anyone heard from Lenox Hill (prelim)? I havent seen them mentioned in the posts and not one of my friends have heard anything (even rejects from them).

Where's Fexo? I wanna see her cute face on here!

Here's proof that you can still get interview invites this late in the game:

Just got Cornell today, and yes all their interview slots are filled up, they asked me to come on an 'off interview day', so you never know! just because slots are filled or your application came in late dosn't mean its over!!

GOODLUCK!:luck:

I received a pleasant surprise with an invite from a program earlier this week

Wash u yesterday

What the hell....

Columbia, 7:00 pm last night.... Now just have to figure out if I can make one of the four days they still have available.

Mount Sinai, last night, even though I already got a rejection letter. 5 dates available.
