Sweet, USA just kicked Germany to the curb in men's volleyball. US looked awful in game 1, but still (barely) won it.... and then proceeded to dominate the next two matches. Awesome stuff.

Germany really, really needs some more hitters. I dunno what's up with their lineup ... it's thin.
 
I didn't watch it but already heard we sucked. :laugh:

Looked like we did well in the diving though? I have no clue what to look for though. I'm about to look at the rankings..
 
Equineconstant, I love the diving and synchro diving.

OT of how much I like those events:

I think it was the 2008 olympics, there was this diver. I think he was from Russia. They listed injuries he had over come in his life. Besides breaking his back and leg and arms are different points, he was shot (maybe stabbed, not sure which one) like 5 times!
 
I'm watching the US play water polo now. Not the most exciting sport and they look funny with their hats on. :laugh:
 
I haven't had a chance to watch ANY Olympic events yet. 🙁 I will be spending the next couple months watching them online. :laugh: For now, I am living through your comments on this thread. 😍
 
Who watched the swimming "last night?" I was so bummed about Phelps' first race. I'm pretty sure he used up all his luck in Beijing. 🙁 But boy did he make history later! I just hope he'll feel the need for redemption and go to Rio, because I plan to be there in 2016.

And...Oh Emiloo, where are you? Can we agree upon a great relay last night?😀 😍

I just watched the timed trials in cycling forever. Don't even know why because it's pretty boring. :laugh:

But . Germany is in second place right now. :laugh:
 
I really wanna go to Rio! I heard that Atlanta is applying for 2020! That'd be awesome! As soon as we know if they get it, I will apply for tickets to the eventing and show jumping! They would probably do it in Conyers again. At least that's what I think. It's beautiful and I love going there!

Unfortunately, the 3 finalists for 2020 Olympic hosts were anounced to be Istanbul, Tokyo, and Madrid. No US city in the near future at this point. 🙁 And when was Salt Lake, 2002? So we're probably a cycle or 2 from getting them back here. Maybe by then I'll be able to afford to go the entire time. 🙂

PP, you're in Georgia, right? Are you going to the American Eventing Championships this fall?

Fellow Georgian (go dawgs!) here too. ATL hosted the Olympics in 96 so I doubt we'd get it again in half a century...unless the entire world's economy goes to shiit

Yeah...I read something the other day that US is focused on getting the 2024 summer of 2026 winter olympics back in the US. I know that Chicago and NYC bid on 2012 and 2016, I think, but didn't even make it to the final.

Sadness! Although going to Madrid would be pretty awesome! If I don't have to work that summer, maybe I'll go to Germany to shadow again (was offered to shadow a state vet which is a really important vet there) and then go to Madrid to watch the Olympics! That'd be such a cool summer!

Yea, I was surprised when I heard it but you can hope, right?:laugh:

You at UGA now? I'm always excited to find other Georgians because there aren't many here.. 🙄

And Women's AA in gymnastics starts at 11:30am, I believe.

For you, my Olympic friend, of course. 😀

Though I'm not even sure how to update for dressage, because I can't get myself to watch every ride. Some of the horses have looked a bit tense in the arena this morning. USA ride had a great test. Currently, German rider is in 2nd invidually. I don't really understand the team rankings right now. No... dressage bores me a bit... waiting for the jumping on Saturday

but I will be watching gymnastics at 4:30 pm this afternoon!!!! 😀

Ain't that the truth. I appreciate the art of dressage, but I can't watch horse after horse go.

Of course, I can watch 100s of horses do the same jumper/hunter course all day. :laugh:
 
Ugh. I'm gonna miss most of the gymnastics. 🙁

I love watching freestyle dressage. At least there's some variety. But the same over and over? No thanks.
 
Currently watching some sort of kayaking slalom thing. I'm not really sure, it's just what's being covered on tv now. It's pretty cool, though.
 
It doesn't matter. You can. I don't pay attention to the scores anyways. I just like to watch the routines because it looks awesome. Haha

Well then I'll say that the USA girls came out really strong on vault. 1-2 right now. On to uneven bars!
