This is a thread for all the waitlisted applicants out there, feel free to post when you were waitlisted! As well, later in the cycle where you were pulled off.

Stay strong waitlistees!! My only acceptance come from being waitlisted last year. If you need any advice on what to do and how to handle being on the waiting list, please feel free to PM me!! Its still relative early in the game so I'm sure you guys will be fine!!
 
Thanks for the encouraging words iTcanBdone! It's just frustrating to know that I won't know where Im going for so much longer!

I know what you mean but believe it or not, you completely forget how awful it is once you're accepted. Its still early so your chance are probably good!!

This thread is useless without stats. Post your stats and whether you had a DO LOR or nah. More helpful than just stating where you got waitlisted IMO.

I'm willing to offer advice if you're interested. Send me a PM and lets see what's going on. You got IIs from very respectable schools.

I have a feeling you don't have any major red flags. It might be interviewing or showing interest at the institutions.
 
Does grade replacement actually put you at a disadvantage though?
 
I've retaken each semester of O-chem twice and then a semester of a math course I didn't do too hot in. I hope they don't minddd 🙁

Thanks! I've gotten into another school already and an upcoming interview at my state school. I'm fairly sure my waitlists are more or less just hesitance because i retook 5 freshman courses, and have a few blemishes(C+) here and there in recent times. My interview at one school when i asked, they said it was average - and just at that moment in time it wasn't enough to compensate for the shakiness of my academics. There are alot of great applicants out there, that is for sure!

As for the poster asking about grade replacement being bad, it depends on the school - if you dont have a choice then you dont have a choice. MSU-COM was the only school that explicitly told me they dont like applicants to have inflated gpa's based on retakes. Otherwise, i am happy i retook them to bring up my GPA to get my foot into the interview rooms.

Last year I was waitlisted at VCOM-CC & NYITCOM. My only suggestion is to call after they rank the list and see if you can get your ranking. If not call often and ask if there has been movement. You can also send a letter of intent and updates. The Waitlist is such an annoying position to be in so I feel all of your pains. Best of luck.

Could you explain why April 30 is significant ? I haven't heard about this. I know may 15 is a big day.
 
April 30th is the deadline this year for MD schools to commit to one seat. Traditionally waitlists start to move after this date as well as the May 15th date.

Oh ! I always thought it was may 15 ? Why did they change it to April ? It's kind if confusing bc the med school I'm on hold at keeps saying may 15 is a big day.
 
Actually @UBC2014 I see we are very similar! Where did you get accepted?? Congrats!

They just changed it this year for Allo schools. DO schools it is still May 15th.

Okay. I've been told a pretty different version by the admissions staff at Rowan. They said DO schools don't really have a final acceptance day & MD schools is may 15

Ok maybe Rowan isn't aware that AMCAS changed the date this year to April 30th for those holding multiple acceptances. These dates are to force people to choose only one school so the AdComs can fill their classes appropriately.

Okay I just called AMCAS and you are indeed correct. I apologize. Ive just been told May 15 for the past several months so this is news to me. But the school I'm on hold at said there was little to no movement this week. If people have to drop by tomorrow that seems odd. What do you think ?

DO waitlisters won't see as much movement as MD waitlisters however there is hope that when students choose MD seats over DO seats we will benefit. I am holding on to as much hope as I can 🙂

Ya definitely ! Do you think movement can still happen after this date ? I'm just surprised to hear that there was no movement this week given that its MD final acceptance day.

Touro-NY, Western-COMP and MU-COM. (The latter 2 were acceptances off of waitlists in Dec-Jan time frame), and stayed on waitlist at KCU, which was my lowest choice.
