One of the DO schools wants me to commit with a contract saying that they will contact all schools including MD schools where I’m on waitlists, and of course they want me to signed it before May 1. What I don’t understand is how does this DO school know which MD schools I’m on the waitlist for
Is this OCOM? Sounds like OCOM.

Is this liberty? I heard some people sign it and get an acceptance soon after… but I still think it’s wild that schools are making students do this yet they don’t even give a full acceptance or give commitment in return.

Whoops I didn’t know there was a waitlist support thread for just DO so I ended up posting this in the general waitlist thread. Any thoughts? Also how is the WL movement for BCOM and Kansas COM? :

I am currently on the WL for 6 different programs. This has been such a long cycle, I really hope to hear back something soon. 🙁

Any one know waitlist movement for KansasCOM, Vcom Carolina?

Do yall think after May 1, waitlist movement will favor those with 0 acceptances?

If AACOMAS let's school know with acceptances, school will know students with acceptance who will less likely matriculate.

Because, at the end of the day, they want to fulfill the seat.

More than anything from matriculants from previous years posting the letter of intent or updates to the school can move students up to the top of the list (its speculated) I have seen "unranked waitlists" go out of order due to some sort of intent or large update.

Agree with kamikaze. Yes after may 1 there is likely a ton of WL movement because of people withdrawing, but you should definitely keep in touch with your WL schools send updates and interest letters, and definitely a letter of intent to your top choice if they accept them!

I’ve sent updates, a letter of intent, and called the offices of the schools I’m waitlisted at a few times over the last five months so I think I’ve exhausted all of my options and have no other updates. The schools have been very nice and keep telling me to be patient but I am so stressed and tired and I really hope to hear something in the next week or so!

Any advice on what to say or do to get off the WL? No recent updates, already sent LOI. I do have 1 A but I really want to get off the WL for my top choice!

sent an LOI to my top school on May 1 on the to and I'm literally dying while waiting. I hate how they can just leave us in limbo-like I don't know what to do with my job, whether I'll need to leave the state or not...so demoralizing.
SAME. Also, your username - same. I just want to know already! I’m waitlisted at 3 schools.

Is it worth it to call the admissions office of the school you’re waitlisted at? Does it make a difference? Just wondering bc one school I called back in March for an update, the next day I got an II lol so I’m wondering

Has anyone seen movement from PNWU Waitlist? Or the ranking email?

anyone else on touro-harlem waitlist? that thread is sooo quiet, I'm losing my mind

when they say mid-may movement... does that literally mean 5/15? has anyone seen major WL movement at their school yet? getting super anxious, really want to go to my top choice!!
I feel for you, LOL I really thought I’d hear back today on the dot. It depends on the school but I think it’s mainly after the May 15 deadline for most DOs.

how soon is too soon after an interview to send a letter of intent?? i have an interview next week first thing in the morning and its my absolute #1 choice and i cant believe i got something so late in the cycle. next day?? same day?? a couple days later?? i already have it written i just dont know when to send it

I did mine the next day. It’s so late in the cycle so I went ahead and sent it and they added it to my portal

Does anyone know why waitlist are taking longer this year than previous? Seems to be common theme across the board based on post from last years SDN, maybe im just impatient lol
I think it has to do with FAFSA delays. I’ve seen it in multiple threads and my financial aid office for the school I’m going to said it’s preventing financial aid packages from going out. I think students are waiting on that to either withdraw or commit.

It’s interesting because there has to be a deadline at some point for people to COE and give schools the opportunity to know exactly who is going to enroll. Some schools start mid July.

in reality how persistent should I be when trying to get off the waitlist?? I am about to submit a LOI after being waitlisted this week, but should I be calling the admissions office and asking about my status, waitlist movement, etc?? Or try to talk to someone in admissions about how they're my absolute top choice?? Any advice is appreciated as it's so late in the cycle and im getting desperate lol

You could call ask if they have a ranked waitlist (to see where you are) but after the LOI there's only so much you can do besides wait. You calling repeatedly is unlikely to speed up the process on their end.

Is there a formula followed by Adcoms to calculate how many WLers they have without pissing people off or losing track?

Historical norms allow for a calculation on the number needed to fill.
Acceptances just under the number needed to fill are offered initially. When withdrawals cause the number to drop below the desired class size, folks are offered WL acceptances.
A sufficient number of acceptable WL candidates is maintained until school starts.

It looks like OCOM in Orlando is calling people with below 500 MCAT scores to interview. SMH I don’t know why they ever thought a minimum MCAT of 500 a new DO school would get them far. People with 500+ MCAT scores can go to a lot better, more established schools, even MD

I can't disclose for proprietary reasons, but the best I can do is...

Hi everyone. I'm in a dilemma and would like your opinions.
I got accepted into a DO school however i'm on a "pending acceptance list" meaning they had accepted too many students this year and so i'm basically waiting for someone to drop. However, if i do not get in this year, I would be automatically be put into their class next year without another application. I hate the idea that I might have to move to another state within a day because I can get accepted anytime between now and the first day of school.
What I kind of want to do is to let admissions know that I rather just get accepted next year so I dont have to go through the hassle of moving so last minute and being underprepared. Secondly, If am accepted next year instead, I think I want another shot at other schools again. My question is, if i reapply to schools while having that A for next year, would the other MD/DO schools know that I already have an A? Would it look bad?
I also just had another DO interview today (yes very last minute) but after doing it and them giving me info about the school, I rather go to the school that I got accepted into. Should i email them post interview that I would like to withdraw before I get the results? If i get an A wouldnt it look bad that I didnt take it for this year?
Sorry that was alot of info but I would just like some insight!
