Hey guys! I don't know if a thread has already been started for the 5/27 MCAT, though I'm pretty sure it hasn't. In any case, I'm popping my thread starting cherry with this one so hopefully I'm doing it right 🙂
I know it's still 5.5 months away, but it's never to early for anything med school related, right? 😀

They're out. 30 O for me..

10 12 O 8 for me, 8 on BS - Guess that's what I get for taking the MCAT before taking OCHEM2..

Oh well..
I'll take it again..

9/9/10 O

-2 from my average but ta hell with it, I'm done. 😍

(Never had lower than a 10 in PS)

Woohoo! I have been keeping my fingers crossed for you today, my fellow Philadelphian! Are you hoping to stay in the city?
Yup 🙂.

I am bitterly dissapointed in my VR score, I was hoping for 13+...but then I was not expecting 11s in my BS and PS, so I'm cool like old school.

I am in SHOCK.
41Q: 14/12/15

I'd set as a goal that I wanted to be in the top 100 testers this year, which a 42 will probably do. So I should be thrilled. But I mostly feel weird and hollow. I think it's just been too much buildup.

VR 12/ PS 11/ BS 13

36P!

I don't know what happened on PS because that was my strongest section on all my practice tests but I can't complain!

33S
vr-11
ps-10
bs-12

Exactly what I predicted. I usually score much higher on vr (13-15) on practice tests, but I ran out of time on the real thing.

Retaking on August 4th in town. I had to stay in a hotel 3 hours from home for the last one.

Definitely happy. 😀

35 R!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OH MY GOSH OH MY GOSH OH MY GOSH :biglove:

I am so unbelievably happy right now!!!!!!!

For those of you who want to see my practice scores, as I always did for previous test takers:

TPR 1: 23, PS 7 VR 9 BS 7
TPR 2: 22, PS 7 VR 7 BS 8
TPR 3: 30, PS 10 VR 10 BS 10
TPR 4: 28, PS 8 VR 9 BS 11

AAMC 6: 36, PS 13 VR 10 BS 13
AAMC 7: 35, PS 12 VR 10 BS 13
AAMC 8: 31, PS 10 VR 10 BS 11
AAMC 9: 36, PS 13 VR 11 BS 12
AAMC 10: 35, PS 13 VR 10 BS 12

And I felt like **** when I walked out....literally I thought I below 30.

Wow. I am so shocked/relieved/happy that all that studying paid off. Whew! 😀

V - 11
PS - 11
BS - 10 THANK GOD ITS ABOVE A 10!!!!

WS - R

i dont know if R is good or bad. i know its kinda close to T, but who cares! 32! its no 38 but its def good enough to get me where i wanna go (hopefully!)

congrats to everyone else who scored where they wanted to score!

V/P/B : 09/11/06 L

L again? My style of writing must be my downfall, because based on how others type their posts compared to their scores I should do as good if not better, in my opinion....

VR 11 / PS 12 / BS 12

Some of you guys did so much better, but I'm damn excited for mine! In a four month gap, I jumped from 29 to 35. Anyway, now I can go to the bookstore and get all the books I've been putting off because of MCAT (nerdy, I know). Good luck, everyone!

Edit to add my AAMC practice tests. I only did AAMC practice tests and studied content from Kaplan review books:

PS/ V /BS
aamc 4: 10/10/10 30 (~1 month out, still reviewing content heavy)
aamc 5: 8/10/13 31
aamc 6: 11/13/10 34
aamc 7: 10/11/12 33
aamc 8: 10/10/11 31
aamc 9: 13/11/12 36 (probably peaked here but maybe 9 was easiest)
aamc 10: 10/10/12 32 (i remember just kinda going through the motions, maybe burnt out)

I got a 33O, 11/11/11 on the real deal.

I'll take it 😀

Thought I crushed the PS (predicted 13) after I took it and flopped the verbal (predicted 9). BS was so hard that it was hard to get a grip on it, expected a 10-11 and hoped for a 12 since BS was my strongest section. I like the balance and overall I'm really happy. 33.4 was my AAMC average if you take out aamc 4 where I was still reviewing content. So the AAMC practice tests were money for prediction, although I was hoping to ride my upward trend and get a 35+, but that 36 was probably an outlier rather than an indicator.

I jumped from 29 as well! The highest I had ever scored on a practice test was 31! I feel like burning the mcat books right now!

Haha! We have exactly the same score breakdowns. Though I guess that's not too infrequent. Still! Congrats everyone 😀

9/9/P/10 28P

Right at my AAMC average. For 2.5 weeks of studying right after finals in Physics 2, Organic 2, and Genetics lab, I'm happy. Plus, I'm applying in-state. 1 point below average MCAT, but above average GPA.

Do you think, for this particular test, we have a generous curve on the BS section? the VR section? It appears many people complained about the difficulty of the BS section right after the test.

I think there definitely was a generous BS curve. I thought I got maybe a 9 or 10 coming out of it. I'm ecstatic about the 12.

Had to have had a really good curve for BS, I got a 10 on BS and as a percentile that was anywhere from 58%-77% (huge range of people). 10 was my average for AAMCs, whereas 11s were my avg for PS and I got a 9.

It really is true, the section you think you do the crappiest ends up being your best

Verbal: 9
PS: 10
BS: 10
Writing: R

Ehh kind of what I expected, thought I would get at least a 10 in Verbal though! (I never got lower than a 10 on the practice tests)

I am an SC resident though hoping to go to South Carolina SOM or MUSC SOM so I am at their average MCATs at least.

Any thoughts from anyone about my score would be much appreciated!

Many speculated there appears to be an experimental section on BS after the test, on 5/27/2010 or 5/28/2010. How do you think about it now? Do you still think the experimental section is on BS, not on PS and VR?

Do we need to re-submit our AMCAS once our scores are loaded? Or will it just send it to all the schools automatically?

38R!!!! I'm just praying they didn't make some weird mistake scoring it and it doesn't change...

Congrats everyone!

^awesome job. really great work. I have a ? for you. Is that all of the TPR exams you took. I was thinking of not taking any more (i've taken #1,#3) and just starting my AAMC exams about a month before I test. Would you recommend taking the other TPR exams??? I'm terrible in verbal, but have been making gains. for TPR #1, I got a 7 in PS like you and a 10 in PS. How did you make such big jumps??? I am assuming you did the whole Science workbook. Anyway, thanks for any advice and congrats again.

Thank you for the congrats!

Yeah, that's all the TPRs I took. Honestly, I wouldn't recommend taking more than 3 or 4, just to get some extra experience with the test format itself. TPR exams were a lot harder in my opinion, and when I wasn't seeing much improvement even though I knew that I knew a lot more material, I just moved on to the AAMCs, and the score jump matched how I was feeling with the studying.

Verbal was also my weakest. I did some of the online practice passages and all the verbal practice in the workbook.

As for the sciences, I read through the books twice, doing half the assigned passages/problems each time. Also, get an ExamKrackers orgo book. They cover a lot that TPR doesn't. And even though my test was practically orgo-less, you never know I suppose....so might as well be prepared.

As for the big jumps....my only advice is to study hard and study smart. Focus on your weak spots first. I always sucked at Bio b/c I'd only taken intro level before studying for this. So the bulk of my time spent was studying for that....and when I reached 12s and 13s on practices, I started focusing more on verbal...though it always was a challenge for me.

I took the TPR class during the semester so I didn't have much time to study until after finals ended. I basically devoted all of May to studying. Every day I'd start around 1 pm....study til 5 ish, work out, eat, and study again from like 8-midnight. If you can find a study partner, I think that helped me a lot. I lived with my friend and we were both studying for the same test. Get some flashcards (Kaplans are pretty good) and quiz each other every few days.

best of luck!!! if you have more questions feel free to pm me.

What a solid accomplishment. 👍
I actually think TPR is much more detailed than EK for Orgo. TPR does throw in some things that were not covered in the lecture though (Friedel-Crafts Alkylation comes to my mind).
