Hello everyone,

This question generally applies to those who have successfully been admitted to dental schools-

How did you contact schools to let them know you are really interested in their school specifically? I understand it's sort of a fine line between being annoying and bugging them too much and contacting them just enough to let them know you're REALLY interested.

What did you find to be the best way to contact them? By phone/email/etc? Also did you ask to speak to a member of the admissions committee (obviously better) or just speak to the person answering the phones?

And finally, what types of questions were you asking? For example, were you asking 'how well does my personal application fit into the criteria you're looking for?' 'can I improve anything and forward the results come December?' etc

Thanks for any input!

You do that by applying to the school. You only typically contact, after you have interviewed and have been waiting for a while, or when you are on a waiting list. Just calling up there arbitrarily won't do you any good. Let your application talk 1st.

Sent them my AADSAS, check for secondaries, a picture of my svelt body, and a personal check for $75 (im poor okay, thats all I could afford)....

I agree with the posts above . Once the application cycle begins your application speaks for you.

Haha, ok thank you for the info!

no matter who you speak to, give the utmost respect to all, regardless of their position at the school.

Oh of course, I didn't mean that in a bad sense. I meant more or less if speaking to that person would even be documented or purposeful.

it may or may not be, thats the beauty of it, you wont really know. so just make sure that whenever you speak to anyone at a dental school, you treat them as if they are the dean of admissions IMO.

the dean of admissions came and talked to the pre-dental society at our school.

She remembered me at my interview.

I spoke again with her, at a second pre-dental meeting, the night before i got called off the wait-list.🙂

I applied to the schools, replied to emails promptly and went to the interview. Contacting the school isn't going to change much of anything.
