Have any of you read the book The Difference A DO Makes? I found it to be very intriguing, especially the history of DO and how it had to fight opposition during its entire history. I used to think that DO was started in the 70s. Wow, was I way off. Try the 19th century! The reason I probably thought they weren't formed until the 70s was because that's when more schools started to be created and state money was used to help fund the schools. Anyway, if any of you haven't read it, I recommend it.

Yes, that's a great book. I always recommend that book to anyone that wants to learn more about osteopathic medicine simply because it's concise and yet fairly complete. I like to call it the Cliffs Notes for the Gevitz book, which is cumbersome to read.
