Hi, I have a question. My friend went for a test drive and noticed something weird.

In the test drive, they give you mini sample test with science, math and reading question.

My friend said that on the reading section, the passages are put on the side of the screen like on the SAT practice tests on Khan Academy.

Will this how the reading section on the real test look, because frankly I am not used for this or is it more similar to what I see when I take practice tests from Bootcamp, Crack and Qvault?

Does it differ from the test drive, or does the display differ from one testing center to another?

She also said the laminated paper is blue and kinda small.

While it's possible that the interface has changed since I took the DAT in 2015, I definitely did not have passage and questions side-by-side like in that image. I think the passage was always below the questions for me, not necessarily like the practice tests you take.

EDIT: laminated paper appearance can definitely vary. I think mine was yellow.

I never did the test drive, but for my test the passage was below the question. One question is show at a time (taking up the top half of the page), and the passage is directly below (taking up the other half but with a scroll bar). Each testing center should have the same format for the DAT, but the paper may be different. Mine was a pink, darkly gridded 8 1/2 by 11in laminated sheet. Since I just took my test a little less than two months ago, I hope this helps! 🙂

Hi Faefly,

According to Prometric, the Test Drive is meant to give you a feel for check-in and test procedures at your testing center. Prometric states that the Test Drive will not necessarily match "the look and feel of your particular exam." Therefore, you can expect some differences in layout between the Test Drive and your real DAT test interface.

On my own DAT exam (2017), the question was shown at the top of the screen and the passage was shown below it. I hope this helps!
