The Diversity Question

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Both seem significant, I would include both. These are the things that make you unique.

Hello, I wanted to get someone's feedback on how I plan on answering the diversity question for my secondaries.

Part 1
I grew up in a rural area and went to college in a metropolitan area. As such, I feel like, in both of these critical time periods, I have been instilled with many cultural sentiments of these often competing backgrounds, and as a result, I believe I have a special ability to create true rewarding relationships with people from both cultures unlike the majority of my friends back home.

Part 2
I also was severely injured when I was young and had extensive, prolonged experiences receiving healthcare from my preteens up until my junior/senior year of high school. I think this gives me a special perspective on medical practice that my colleagues may not have.

Should I include both, or just one? Which would be better? I feel like the first scenario comes across as insignificant, but I've really experienced just how important it is for people to be able to completely interact and bond with people from an often competing background, and I've seen how isolated people become when they cannot. Furthermore, I know the second scenario might be more easily expressed and understood, but I don't want this to turn into a sob story about my injury as I know I need to focus on the unique consequences of this experience. Any help will be glad appreciated! Thanks!
Part I all the way. Lots of applicants have had health issues.

Goro's opinion>>>>>>mine. You're welcome and good luck!

Definitely include growing up rural. There is a focus that is spreading to medical schools about caring for rural and underserved populations. If you do want to return and practice in that setting, growing up rural is a bona fide to that claim.
