So I was recently at an interview and some girl told me that the earlier you interview at a STATE school that it means that they want you more. Can anyone justify this? I'm just simply curious.

Thanks

Maybe for some schools. It makes sense. If they love you, why would they just sit on your app until Nov/Dec when they could have already interviewed you? At the end of the day I think the biggest factor regarding interview timelines is whether it's pre or post Dec. 1st.

the thing about STATE schools isn't only for state schools.... its for ALL schools. Strong applicants (or atleast the way the school sees it) are more favorable and tend to be in the early batches of interviews.

Not necessarily because my state school "Oklahoma" is going to interview everyone this year before November 20th, and the whole class will be decided on December 1st. So it depends on each school.

I interviewed in mid-September at my state school. I'm hoping that's considered early and that it's a good sign. :xf:

How much does one's chances of admission drops if their interview is post Dec 1.

Lets say for UNLV, what is the difference between pre-Dec 1 and post Dec 1?

Is UNLV one of those schools that Interview alot of people?

I have no idea. With some schools you'll just be interviewing for a waitlist spot, for others it will be no different from a pre Dec 1st interview. It just depends on the school.

yes,the earlier the Better!

I was wondering why it was SO beneficial to be in the first few batches of interviews and my state school's admission staff explained this to us.

Let's say 15 people interview on the first day and they decide they really liked 8 of those people. The 8 people who they felt were a good match for their school gain admission to the school, but it is not over for the other 7 students who didn't get picked. When they interview another 15 people next batch, the 7 who didn't get chosen the first time have their files re-examined in comparison to the 15 people who are interviewing in the second batch. This continues for the rest of the cycle. The files for the applicants interviewed early may be looked at 20 times, while someone with an interview towards the end may get 2 "chances" in a huge pool of applications.

Great, thanks for the explanation!
