There are many factors that affect people when making a decision about who will be our next presidential leader. Do any of the candidates have proposals that may have a primary or secondary effect on animal medicine? Any primary literature regarding this out there?

That is a very interesting question! I'd love to know what people think. I know who I'm voting for - or rather which party, once everything gets figured out - but my reasons have very little to do with my chosen field and career path. That should change! I'd love to be more educated about Clinton, Obama, and McCain's positions on many health and animal health issues.

1) disease monitoring and control - here and abroad - from AIDS to bird flu to TB to condom distribution
2) $$ into science (please god, can we be smart here and fund research appropriately!)
3) Food/production animal welfare and food safety monitoring
4) small buisness owners (this will not be me, but if it were - if I wanted to start my own clinic...?)

Clearly the differences between Clinton and Obama's health care packages have been discussed into the ground, but I'm interested not in their positions on insurance, etc, but more globally how they intend to support animal/human health, both research and policies.

Under which president are we more likely to see a reduction in student loan interest rates?

Hehe just a funny little parody of the elections:

But on a more serious note, it won't matter really who becomes the next president. None of the candidates are trying to solve our 9trillion dollar deficit and even if Obama or Clinton advocate new government programs, it will just pile onto our existing debt :S There will be a point when the debt will be so large that it will take 20yrs + to recovery.

David, McCain would probably be likely only because he will be the only one not making the tax skyrocket.

What I'm hoping Obama does is advocate stem cell research which Mr.Bush condemned so much.

Allows you to compare candidates side by side on something like 14 different issues, including the environment and research. Seems pretty unbiased, put together by Harvard students. I didn't know McCain supported stem cell research, but I do now!
