Am I the only one peeved that St. Vincent's sent an email saying they are withdrawing for the match for all residency programs?! So much time and money wasted to go out there for an interview...and I am sure they knew what was coming. The chair acknowledged the issue but said it would not affect anesthesia or surgery...what bs

they're keeping psych.. so they might bring back the other residencies.. my question is weren't they getting money from the government for the residents plus cheap labor? so won't they lose even more money by closing the residencies?

You could tell the program was in trouble after the whole talk with the chair, TY getting canned mid-season, and the PD leaving. Personally, I wasn't planning to rank them highly anyway, but sucks for anyone that was seriously considering them. Hope they can sort out their financial issues and get back on track with their residency programs in the future.

The hospital has been plagued by financial issues for a long time even before the 2000's, so its no surprise their being bought over. The plan is pretty much to change the hospital to an outpatient center and I think they want to keep their psych services b/c of fear that they may overflood bellevue with patients if they close.
