  1. Pre-Podiatry
I heard of podiatry students, whom before they got accepted said they didn't do any ECs or barely any volunteer work. All they said was really required was they MCAT, your GPA, shadowing and a very strong personal statement... Is this at all true?

Yes. Anyone that says otherwise is only doing wishful thinking for admission standards.

I don't like to hear this unfortunate reality.

megh...it gives you examples to back-up your statements about being a team player, giving, serving others. During ALL (4) of my interviews, I was the one that had to bring up my extracurriculars to highlight my achievements/passions. No adcom will ask you explicitly about it...based on my experience.

In the end, do things that you like/think will help you be a better person/pod/healthcare team member

I hate to say but I would agree it would not be a deal breaker. But make sure to get involved with stuff in college. Clubs and organizations ate not nearly as plentiful or fun in the adult world.

I've been involved. It's just a little weird to hear stuff like that. I love volunteering and helping in any way possible.

Personally, I feel like the MCAT score is HUGE.

List of priorities from greatest to least:

1) GPA
2) MCAT
3) Shadow (or job experience)
4) LOR's

If anything is below average for the school you're applying to, it would be a good idea to add in some EC's like volunteering at a hospital/charity.

i know one school in particular that relies heavily on MCAT scores to generate the scholarship amount.
