Hi I was wondering what the scoring in "seconds of arc" for the various tests in the Fly stereotest.

I think for the Animals, the values are:
A 400 (cat)
B 200 (rabbit)
C 100 (monkey)

What are the circles? (1-9)

What about for the three parts of the fly?

Thanks.

What is this and how difficult is this compared to the other things you learn in OD school?

It's a test to see how much depth perception your patient has. They wear polaroid glasses and when they look at this book they'll see things popping out at them. It's maybe one of the easiest tests ever to do. "Look at this part of the book and tell me what is coming out at you."

yes ive done this test on myself and i found it hard to identify some of the little circles past number 5 or something. but im pretty sure i have good depth perception. Why is it very difficult for me to see this?

I can't do it past 5 either! I have no idea. I know a good number of other people who can't get all the way to 10 either. I'm not suppressing so that's not it. Maybe someone on here can help us. 😀

remember that the test is calibrated for 40 cm

At this level of stereopsis, you need to work on the details:

-good direct lighting
-good polarized lenses
-excellent refraction with a perfectly accurate bio balance
-allow yourself time

And then any normal young person should see 40-60"

cheers
