The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly about Penn

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
from the students that i interacted with, they seemed somewhat uptight. The facilities were really grundgy for such a prestigious institution but the students commented on the high qualitiy of their education. The surrounding campus was really nice, lively and full of students. The new addition to the school looks like a prison. I have no idea what the designer had in mind, but it looks cold and unwelcoming. The student clinics were wide open so that the patients have ZERO privacy. The faculty were awkward and seemed to be wired on too much coffee.

Overall, I didnt get the best impression, but im visiting again to try and get more student interaction. My interviewer was one of the best ive had so far though!

I love it here and am so glad I choose to come here over any other school. If you think we are uptight please PM me and when you come visit I will take you out with some kids. That being said...there are some that are uptight but I think that goes along with the profession. Having a large class allows us more of both in each category. The main clinic is not the greatest with the openness but that is why they are renovating the entire thing starting this summer. Also, the other clinics which I don't know if you saw like ortho, OMFS, peds are super nice and new so I would look at those too. The classrooms are not the best but I would rather have better professors than fancy seats.

i definitely dont think i got an accurate impression of the school, thats why i will definitely revisit.

I agree with BigRed and, like him, I'm pleased with decision to attend Penn. There are parts of the dental school that do need work and for the most part the students here are outgoing, helpful, and friendly. I don't know when you visited and who you interacted with but you could have just caught a couple of people at a bad time - e.g. a major exam was in an hour , etc. If you do revisit the school take BigRed up on his offer.
