Hi guys, I've started to look to look for colleges I came up with a couple really good schools near and far. Some are in other countries.

I'm a US Citizen, but I was wondering what is the situation of foreign degrees with American medical schools? Do they accept or deny?

I'm not looking at anything crazy, but just some large universities in Australia, the UK, and possibly some other places in Europe. What the cost be much greater if I did go anyway as an international student?

Would it be better to just stay in the States, or maybe just take a year of study abroad for the culture experience? 😀

Most American schools will ask for atleast two years of coursework at a US university. You probably will have to do a post-bacc pre med program before applying to US med school. IMHO, it is better to stick with the one year study abroad.

I agree. Stay at a US school. Besides the fact that med schools will want 2 years at a US school before they will consider your application (possible exceptions if the school is Canadian, but I'm not sure), you should also consider the difficulties of applying from abroad, if you decide not to take a year off. Interviews are obviously done in person, and traveling is already a huge burden without the costs/time commitments of international flights. There are so many great ways to go abroad during semesters or over the summers that it doesn't seem worth it to me to go to school abroad.
