At least you'll be more than prepared for residency. I can only imagine how some of the kids who have been spoonfed their entire lives will cope when working 70 hrs a week hits

:laugh: Someone else actually asked that exact question earlier in this thread. DB is for Defensive Back. It was my old AIM name back in HS and it just sorta stuck for forum names.

I've always wondered what the background of the most unhappy residents were. Gotta wonder if those that have work long hours in the past are actually better off/happier going through residency.

My sleep is messed up, too. The strange thing is that I don't do shift work. My job is during the day though we often have evening stuff, but nothing really late. I do research interviewing so we have to accommodate the subjects. Truthfully, I have three worries about starting school in July.

1) My sleep schedule needing to be majorly altered. I won't be able to stay up half the night. Will need to get up at 5:30 AM most days! 😱

2) Money - no paycheck x 4 years :smack:

3) Generally just flunking out of med school. :scared:

Well...I don't think you'll have to worry too much about #3. First....it is a club. Once you're in, they really want you to stay in.🙂 Second...I would argue that the people who flunk out are those who don't appreciate how they go there. You, m'lady, are full of appreciation. A second app cycle does that for you🙂 I think you are going to be stellar.
 
I ended up calling off work yesterday. I hadn't been able to sleep and had an allergy attack from hell. I must admit that only having four months to go in this job before school starts makes it much easier to call off! There wasn't really anything important going on at my job and since I was not scheduled for an interview it didn't impact anyone else. Really hope I can sleep tonight. The bad thing about calling off was that I ended up sleeping all day.

Dude why are you on SDN during spring break? When I am on break, a week from now, I am going to be sitting by the lake, smoking a cigar and drinking a beer.

I saw the Arnold pic and DB and may have thought...

Work sucks. 3 jobs is awful. No matter how much the paychecks are if you can't enjoy them it's pointless. I want to be on Jersey Shore and get paid to do nothing.

Tell me about it. And of course it becomes compounded when the people above you are having sex. And it is not the sex I object too, it is just how noisy they are. It's just a distraction.

my complete lack of structure has put on me on a sleep pattern of like 5 am- 3 pm. it's terrrible. i'm attempting to break the cycle by pulling the all-nighter tonight. did you go any where special for your vacation?

Not really, I met some friends at a casino for the weekend (and didn't lose any money😀). Then next weekend I'm visiting my parents and siblings.

Yoda, the only gambling I do is betting on the horses (Thoroughbred racing). I am not too bad at handicapping. I even win sometimes. :laugh:

Good luck to everyone else dealing with insomnia, trying to eliminate the need for sleep, or trying to ignore the people above who are having a noisy sexual romp. 😉
 
I can't believe it has taken me like almost a quarter of an hour to post here since it reached midnight my time.

Trying to get my sleep cycle back on schedule as well. Gonna stay up late tonight and force myself to get up early tomorrow, stay active all day without napping so I can crash at around 10pm tomorrow.
 
I drank a Red Bull and I still feel like I'm gonna fall asleep at any moment. But I have a lot of crap to study/cram! :scared:

daily fiber needs: completed. and it's only 2am... you definitely have a headstart on your day!

i just ate the driest black bean burger evar. but the caf' shuts at 2 so i guess i can't expect the freshest food...
 
I need some music to keep me awake while I redo old physics quizzes. Any recommendations?

EDIT: Here's hoping the people who live above me decide not to go for a third night in a row of noisy sex. They were going at it for an hour on and off last night at 3AM! The vents are so good a channeling sound down from the room above me that I could tell that she was faking it. 😀
