I'm really concerned about my health. I got 4 hours of sleep last night and I'm not tired at all! Am I about to hit the wallaskkafhahwwjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjj
 
I get two hours of sleep before every day I work (only work about 3-4 days a week). It is annoying but secretly, I am training for residency. FULL SPEED AHEAD

That's strange. I'm studying for a physics exam tomorrow and I haven't noticed a gain in knowledge from browsing SDN...weird...

+1. Seedy back alleys can be cozy sometimes. I prefer to think of the prostitutes there as overly friendly women.
 
My orgo midterm got graded way faster than I thought....but my grade was no where as good as I would have liked....I got a 59. It's not the end of the world, because my lowest exam grade gets dropped, but it does put that added pressure on me to do really good on my next two exams.

Thats both good and bad news 🙂 My orgo class was set up with 3 exams and a final (ACS standardized final). I did well in orgo 1 and in orgo 2 until the last test before the exam. I BOMBED it. Seriously it was the worst grade I've ever made on anything. My professor even wrote "what the hell happened!?" beside my grade... I would have done many questionable things to have that grade dropped :laugh:

Even more annoying was the fact that everyone in our class scored >90th percentile on the ACS exam, yet only 3 people got A's...

In retrospect, Orgo seems a lot more important when you're taking it than it ends up being. Don't build it up in your head - its just another class, and really not more important than your other prereqs.

I'm more worried about what it will do to my already crappy gpa. I need to pull up my gpa if I have any hope of getting into a med school.

The only thing I can think that I did wrong in my preparation and studying for it was that I didn't start soon enough.

If I remember right, ~2nd Test of 2nd semester is where you start picking up A LOT of reactions, which is sadly where it becomes more about time memorizing/working problems instead of understanding the concepts. Thats where it got more difficult for me, because I simply did not care about a random 1" by 1" box in the corner of page 1,329 detailing extremely rare reaction #32,321. And at least at my school knowing only the 'hallmark' reactions would only get you about half way.

I'm sure you did more than some sophomore girl I overheard complaining the other week about her failing grade "But I studied for 3 hours for 3 nights!" Not sure how she squeaked past ochem1...

Yup it was reactions of alkenes and alkynes, and some synthesis involving alkynes and alkenes, plus the usual nomenclature stuff.

Probably. I study in sporadic spurts so it is hard to say. I gotta start taking to heart the whole "Study smarter, not harder mantra".

I know I did stupid **** like not going to class about three or four times and then not getting the lecture notes from somebody as well as getting behind in the reading.

It was actually for work, Torr. I think that was why I was bitter about it. Spending 1030pm to 1230am doing something for work pisses me off when I'm not getting paid.

I max out at a certain number of hours a week under my program's budget.


I consistently work about 15-20 hours a week over that. Plus I commute 70 miles to work 👎

Dedication to a cause will kill ya. Don't ever start caring about s**t.
 
Joining my fellow night owls, been going to bed beyond 4 many nights for no reason at all. Probably could be using that time for something productive... like MCAT studying. But those texts from last night aren't going to read themselves. 😀
