Hey there guys I know this is a shot in the dark. I applied to UoP before taking my DAT and didn't do as well as I wanted. What's the lowest DAT AA that you guys have ever heard of getting an interview invite to UoP?

P.S. I don't have any relatives that graduated from there, and my dad refuses to make any "sizeable donations" 😉

I had a friend get in two years ago with a 17 or a 16 (i don't know exactly, i only remember thinking it was really low), but his dad was alumni. Did you go to their simulation clinic?

Nope, i didn't.. should have though. 😛

i don't think it is a huge deal. i was just wondering if you got to know anyone there that might put your app closer to the top of the pile. i hate waiting. this is the worst part of the whole process. i wish you could just pay more to have their decision overnighted to you. haha

you can get into any dental school if you know the right people. otherwise, shoot for the schools average DAT score, but in many cases, that won't even be enough to guarantee an acceptance. the dental school admission process is really just a crap-shoot.

jb!🙂

Admissions here is weird. They really value alumni recommendations and students from their "feeder" schools (UoP undergrad, Grand Canyon U, UCSD). Other than those guys, I don't think I've talked to anyone with less than a 21AA, though they must be out there.

i completly agree. everyone i know that has gone to school there got in only by knowing people or by being native American.

I don't mean to blow it out of proportion. While a good number of people here are from compacts and alumni relations, there's a ton of people here with ridiculous stats, scores and general awesomeness too. You can definitely get in to Pacific without knowing anyone, you just have to be really good.

Look at me, I have no connections whatsoever and I'm talking to you from class right now. 🙂

I think you stand a better chance of getting in if you have solid PAT score on top of your 20+ AA and 20+ TS.

The PAT component of Pacific has been over exaggerated. As one professor here put it, given enough time, you can teach a monkey to drill the right hole in the right tooth.

RC needs to be over 20 usually. A lot more emphasis on that than PAT. There are people here with low PAT scores, but almost no one with a low RC.

Count me in as one without alumni or family connections and I didn't go to a feeder school. Not that I don't have alumni connections, i just didn't ask any of them to help me in any way or drop any names.

Yeah, thats the problem with memes; they don't have to be true for people to assume they are.

For another fun bit of viral information, look at how there's always "someone" coming on and saying how Pacific does it in 3 years by cutting out important info. UCSF's entire DDS curriculum consists of 208 quarter credits completed over 4 years, whereas Pacific's DDS curriculum requires it's students to complete over 290 quarter credits in 3.

You can circumvent the 'knowing people' issue you have by calling Pacific directly. You will be suprised how much time they'll take on the phone explaining or answering questions. Now you 'know' someone.

Now you're at the top of the pile (a non-alumni, non-donors pile )

I love our sim lab! If you go to a school that has a crappy sim lab and they tell you it doesn't matter, don't believe them. You LIVE in that sim lab for at least a year.

It seems like Pacific is putting less emphasis on legacy applicants. There are still a lot of legacies in our class, but my 3rd year roommate said that 80%ish of her class ARE legacies, while I think at least 2/3 of our class do NOT have relatives that went to the school. Who knows though, this is all speculation. I don't know the hard #s.
