Hey all,

Just want to recommend The Making of a Surgeon in the 21st Century by Greg Miller, who is writing about his residency at OSU and various hopitals in Columbus. Its funny, all names must have been changed, and he roasts everybody. The only part I found kinda disturbing is that he says faculty and admin went after him personally when he was a 3rd yr resident, even to the extent of discovering and divulging trouble in his marriage, which subsequently unraveled. Has anybody else read this, anyone from OSU maybe, and what did you think?

There's a very similar book titled "The Making of a Surgeon," by William Nolen, M.D. It's an older book--I read it a few years ago, and I remember it being a little caustic, a little poignant, and good for a couple of laughs. Might make a good complement to Miller's.

Another very sarcastic book, which I did find of some value, is the "Medical Student Survival Guide" by Steven Polk. This is a fantastic book and I got a lot out of it. The advice within had guided me the the choosing of my residency.
