Everyone go read the "clinical rotations" forum on this site. Some great insight about what to expect when we really start learning medicine.

Then again, I'm a triathlete, so I define my happiness by how much pain I can endure.
Thenmedical schoolintern year is most certainly your cup of tea. 😀
Punchap, when I was a medic I really hated squalling screaming crying kids until I had a run of ones that didn't. Ever since, a crying kid has been the best sound EVER.
I'll tell you right now, as a tech, I've worked with some pretty nasty **** (no pun intended)... But of all the putrid smells, and I've smelt them all (necrotizing tissue, cervical cancer discharge, c-diff, bile, vomit of all assortments), the worst by far is a GI bleed. I don't know what it is about them, or why it smells so horrible but you will never forget that smell. They say just breath through your mouth right? Wrong. You can taste it and if you are curious enough to take a wiff, you will puke. That's the stuff that smells up an entire wing. But a little nugget of advice -a little Vicks vapor rub under the nose can make it bearable.
synaesthesia's a bitcchAfter reading that post, I will always associate the taste of seven grain salad with GI bleeds!
