I just saw the movie since second year is now complete, so I thought we could have some fun on this thread! Personally, Thor was my favorite coming into the movie, but after watching The Avengers, I think I like Captain America the best. He seems to be a natural born, wise leader, and his skills with his shield is amazing! I still love Thor, but Captain American also has human qualities. It is a awesome movie, and each of the characters are great in their own way! You really cannot go wrong with any one!!
 
Ehhh I didn't like captain america. He was naive and had to be convinced to not just "follow orders" by ironman. He also has no real powers and his shield is just lame. Also, he wasn't really a leader, noone followed him throughout the film until the actual battle near the end and he was basically told by iron man to figure out the stategy. It was like people felt sorry for him and decided to give him something to do.

I think he is a bit naive because this is a totally new world for him. . .70 years into the future! I do agree that he did have to be convinced to not follow orders, but he is an Army soilder, so it is kind of expected. I disagree that he isn't a leader. . .throughout the entire movie, The Avengers were not a team, and trying to do every thing individually. I think they all united around Captain in the end. Captain America also shows the most "heart" of all the characters as evident through him saving the hostages. What makes The Avengers so interesting is that, besides Thor and maybe the Hulk, the characters really do not have any powers. They are all humans with extraordinary skills (unlike the X-Men or Fantastic 4), which makes them even more impressive as characters. And that shield is bad ass! I loved the way the force of Thor's hammer upon the shield blew down that patch of forest, or how he is able to throw it and knock out his enemies. Like I said, I did not like Captain America as much coming into the movie, but he definitely grew on me. All of the characters are fantastic. . .very well done IMO!
 
Ehh I don't think they united around him, they each individually came to the same realization that they needed to unite. It wasn't because they rallied around captain america. Iron man saw that one dude die and realized that the **** was real. Thor got spanked in that cage and was just determined to not be beat and realized loki was essentially lost to him. Hulk decided on his own that he needed to help out. Etc etc etc.

If anything Ironman was the leader of the group, he spoke for the avengers when confronting Loki. He determined where the tessarac (sp?) was located and was able to determine that all was not as it seemed to be, by hacking into the computer system of the flying machine. So, he basically figured out the true motives of people, where to go, spoke for the avengers when confronting loki, and told captain america to determine the end battle strategy.

I wasn't a big fan of iron man before, but he had the best lines and did the most good throughout the movie. Moving the nuke out of the city and to the ship of the aliens, preventing the flying ship thing from falling, etc etc etc. If anything he was the real leader and delegated the battle strategy to captain america.

hahaha, what a blow! I wouldn't dare compare him to an NP. Captain America actually knows what he is doing! I think he is awesome. . .but we will never agree on this haha 🙂
 
What, no live for the Hulk? When Hulk punched Thor after beginning to save the day, I nearly peed my pants.

No love for the nerdy, awkward scientist with poor posture and an anger issue? I thought Ruffalo did a spot-on job.

ha, you're right. . I probably should have included him. I wish he would have been in the big battle seen at the end of the movie.

While certainly a relevant question, I take issue with its characterization of "most important".

As much as The Avengers was quite enjoyable, and The Dark Knight Rises looks like it will rock, The Most Important is will this movie be as freakin' spectactular as this trailer makes it look:

just going to put it out there..... the entire script was leaked online in january. Obviously they could have had a dummy script released (happens) or they could have modified the ending.... but I'll tell you, the one I read is really damn awesome. And ties into the aliens franchise nicely. It should be damn impressive with this script.

You should be able to find it if you really want.

Alien/s and Blade Runner defined a genre. That the future could look like ****. I'm super excited for Prometheus and can't wait to see what he does with the franchise.
