Daily review is what worked for me. Same with other material-heavy subjects, like gross anatomy and pathology.

Repetition, flash cards, practice lesion problems, find a study buddy and quiz each other....

I bombed my neuroanat tests. I would have done even worse but I found High Yield Neuroanatomy useful. I'll be keeping it for usmle review I think.
