I have the 9th edition and was thinking about upgrading to the 11th (w/ online updates). Would this be a waste of money? I'm not a dental student (yet) so tell me what you think based on clinical applications, not whether I'll need the new edition for school. The only parts that pertain to my practice now are the non-surgical aspects and AAP classifications.

Do you think I should be fine with the old Carranza and updates on www.perio.org?

you probably wont start perio till 2nd yr and if your not a dental student now version 12 will come out so why buy v 11. also if you've read v 9 already why are you going to dental school hehe

???

Because RDH = registered dental hygienist and being an RDH requires knowing perio.

Save your money. I own the newest edition and haven't opened it once.

Save your money until you get into dental school and buy the book then. If you want to stay up to date with the most recent information and changes, you can check out the website you posted earlier.
