I dont know about other schools, but it seems as if the number of pre-health undergrads is rising at an enormous rate. For example, in my cell bio and organic chemistry classes, the professors have had trouble opening up enough seats becasue of the, "record number of ppl taking this class." I just want to know if the same is going on elsewhere- because this could greatly effect a decision as whether to take a year off or not(along with the outlook of dentistry as a profession, too many/ too few etc.) Is it possible for something along the lines of a 3.7/ 3.8 gpa for matriculated students in a few years? This may sound foolish and if so i apologize, ... just a bit nuerotic

not foolish, and you're right, it's happening all over, but numbers are not all that couts, although they are what gets your foot through the door. with that said, I doubt one year off would make much of a difference. good luck with your decision.

The number of applicants isn't constantly rising, it fluctuates. I don't think the decision to apply should depend on the expected number of applicants for that year but rather how ready you are. 3.7-3.8 GPA to get in dental school is unlikely.
