Just watched this show after a couple of attending physicians said it was almost as good as scrubs. Obviously no medical show is gonna be close to what medicine is like, but I watched this show and liked a few things: 1. highlighted the battle between doctors and administrators. 2. Dramatic, but actually uses accurate terms for what will happen as a patient is decompensating (let's do a bedside ultrasound in a trauma, for example). 3. Talks about the challenges of being a doctor and hospital politics with balancing insurance, money, authorizations, etc.

Things that were kinda offputting/super unrealistic:
1. social environment/playing jokes (HR department would tear people apart) .
2. The amount of traumas they do in a shift....this country would have no people left at that rate.
3. Time to stabilize patients.....
4. ER doc doing surgery.....

Final thought: entertaining, unrealistic, but enough realism and entertainment to keep the public engaged and not completely wrong.

Anyone else seen it?

I like when the ED doc did pediatric neurosurgery in the OR with a clothes hanger as the hospital Admin coached him on how to do it over intercom (since he saw it done at some admin conference, naturally)... Or was it C1-C2 stabilization?

My wife and I get good laughs from this show. It is fantastically unrealistic -- from clinical roles in the ED (above) to interpersonal interactions (yeah, go knock out the CEO and see how your employment at that facility goes).

PS: It is nowhere near as good as Scrubs.

It's a different flavor from scrubs and I like the drama aspect of it. I don't watch TV to see reality - that's what real life is for. I watch TV for the entertainment and this show is pretty entertaining. So I don't ding shows too much for being realistic or not. New Amsterdam is also a pretty good show on NBC.

I have watched a couple of episodes of New Amsterdam, and enjoy the issues they tackle. I also liked Code Black.
