Hey everyone,

Does anyone have any (drug-free) tips for how you can get up on Saturday feeling refreshed and awake....and how you can get a restful sleep the night before...I have to be at my test center, which is about 1 hour away, by 8....meaning I'll probably have to get up around 6 or so. What is everyone else planning to do the night before?

i'm normally an early riser, but "early" for me means 7:30 - 8:00, not 6:00. (I used to get up "earlier" but dayliight savings wrecked all that...) I've been trying to get up at 6 this past week but i keep sleeping through my alarm, mostly b/c i'm so exhausted from studying the night before (wake up with an imprint of the PR textbook on my face, and highligher marks on my pajamas.)

I want to be alert for the test on Sat but feel as though 1) i won't be able to sleep the night before due to various panic attacks and 2) i'll wake up incredibly groggy and drained the morning of.

Any help, advice, etc.? Thanks guys, and hang in there for just a few more days..... 🙂

My Advice-

Starting THURSDAY morning, start waking up at 6am just to get your body use to that schedule.
I normally wake up at 6:15am. For the exam I have to wake at 5:30am, my cab should arrive at 6:45am to get me to the test center by 7:30am. I rather be early than late since I can't predict traffic.

Go to bed early, you might not fall asleep right away but lie there listening to some soothing music or read a magazine.
Try to get 7hours of sleep so you brain can be fresh on exam day.

I've been worrying about the same thing so I decided that I am not even going to crack a book friday. I am also going to get a massage and go for a long run so that I can (hopefully) have a restful nights sleep.

oh man i did the same thing, im a retaker,, hmm actually a tri taker, but i did the hardcore workout thing last time on the friday before mcat. I did this really kick ass leg workout followed by a run, then went out to dinner with my gf thinking ya this will all be fine and great relaxation before mcat... well first off ended up getting into a fight that night, then the worst part and the warning is i woke up with the sorest lower body ever and remember sitting through verbal thinking my ****ing god is this uncomfy.. so less learned here.. stay away from the s.o and stay clear of any workouts that will make you sore needless to say i got a ****ty verbal score.. i dont think it was from that but the day sucks in general its not helping to be uncomfortable as **** throughout the day!

I tried staying up all of thursday night up until friday morning at 6 am, when I went to sleep. I set my alarm for noon that day so that with only 3 hours of sleep, I would be really tired early Friday night.

It worked. I went to sleep at 9pm on friday night, a record for me. Next thing I know, I happen to wake up and it's midnight. I had only gotten only 3 hours of sleep again. I spent the next 6 hours desperately trying to go back to sleep to no avail. So I ended up walking into the MCAT with 6 hours of sleep over the last two days. I was more nervous about becoming sleepy during the exam more than I was about the exam itself. I had a box of Vivarin with me just in case. At the first sign of fatigue, I was ready to start poppin' them two at a time if need be.

It ended up being a moot point, though. I was so full of nervous energy that I was naturally wired the whole day. When I got back home, though, I fell on my bed and slept for about 14 hours.
