you know what im talking about. how alot of people tell you not to go to this school and keep it as your very last option. even a relative of mine who's an endodontist told me to re-apply in 08 if i dont get in anywhere but nyu. but lately everything ive been reading about this school is real real positive. good comments on the interview feedback thing, and a little research shows how much work and money theyre putting into their facilities. does anyone have any specific knowledge about this school and its future?

wutever floats ur boat...please dunt care bout wut other people say bout nyu...i believe its a good school although there must be complaints from its own students...but which dental school dunt have their own students complain bout it...n i think that it all depends on the experience YOU get from it...plus jus bc someone goes to a "better" school doesn't mean that they're gonna be a better dentist...

I don't know if it is southern as much as the general lingo that I see with kids on the internet from the age range of 12 to 16. It is exactly how my nephew talks to me online and he lives in Jersey.lol

This kid in the class of 2008 had an endo as his first procedure in the clinic. I just signed a $5000k tx plan with a patient which consists of implants and other goodies.

Speaking of getting top faculty, go take a look at the NYU website. There are some high rollers here. We were not #5 in research last year for nothing. #1 in research out of the private schools. Schools with poor faculty simply can't do that.

One day these rumors will end, until then, think what you like. I just love how most people always say "I heard from my friends, friend..." All BS.

It's a well known fact that NYU has one of the best clinical education in the nation.

i personally am very excited about attending nyucd starting this fall... people all around me... even some med students were persuading me NOT to go to nyu b/c of what they heard... but what do they know...

nyu does have a hugemongous class... so you probably have more people goin around and complainin... and people do love to talk... so rumors spread...

come check out the school after you're accepted or granted an interview... does the school meet your standards? do you think you'll feel comfortable at the school? yadda yadda...

every school has it's pros and cons... but you're the one that's going to interact with the students/faculty there... you're the one taking out the loans to pay for the tuition... nobody else is going to experience it for you... in the end.. it's all about you...

Great. So what? Of course it would be financially sensible to go to a cheaper school, whether its medical or dental. But some individuals don't have an option or they really want to attend NYU. Does that mean the high tuition of NYU should prevent these individuals from attending these schools? Of course not. You have to think LONG TERM. The career of a dentist can potentially span over a couple decades, if not more. Yes, NYU grads will have high debt. But with the right amount of smart investing and financial planning during and after dental school, everything will work out in the end.

i agree with Juicy. when you drop $320,000+ on your education, you have to think very LONG TERM to pay off your debt

if you have the option, go to your state school! you'll pay off your debt in 5 or 6 years no sweat! 👍

im not too much worried about the loan. i have a relative who gradutated from pittsburgh (around the same loan amount as an nyu student), and he managed to get rid of all his loan in 4 years.


i guess my real question is along the lines of: is it harder to get into a specialty program after graduating from nyu?

Like I said when I reiterated what you initially stated, if there are other options available as far as schools with cheaper tuition rates, it would be wise to attend those schools. Anyone would be stupid to not attend these schools if they have the option available to them. I believe you failed to read everything else I said. Yes, everything will work out in the end IF the individual has carefully and efficiently planned for their financial life after dental school. No **** 250k is a ****load of money. You would be stupid and ignorant to believe it wasn't. But is the high price tuition of NYU, BU, UOP, or any of the other expensive dental schools worth the opportunity cost? F'ck yea. And 250K, 300K, whatever, will haunt you many, many years if you don't have a solid plan to somehow rid yourself of the majority of the debt. Its not impossible if you're up to the task. So NYU is obviously not the school for you. But for me, as well the 230 other matriculating students this fall, it sure is worth it.
