In lieu of the other threads popping up, I thought it'd be good for those of us taking the test to identify ourselves 👍

I'm not planning on following a rigid study schedule until January, but I think I'm going to watch a single video off of wikipremed daily to lightly review.

Good luck to everyone... we will crush this exam..

And it is finished. PTL breakdown if my thoughts-

PS- very calculation heavy. Moderate in difficulty though. I finished with 5 minutes to spare so I'm feeling pretty good about it. Predict a 12.
VR- It's VR. Are we ever sure of any answer? Felt particularly ambiguous but not overly so compared to AAMC practices. Predict 10.
BS- well dang. Definitely harder than the rest. Harder than AAMC? Except for one passage that I had to give a second pass after I felt my mind falling into itself, and maybe a second ochem passage... Maybe, the test felt fairly on par to AAMC 11. Predict 10 (due to that one passage that raises Cain within my soul).

Post test predict total- 32 (12/10/10)

Thought BS was easyish, PS idk, verbal I never know. Not predicting because idk. I know I took one look at trial section and realized the first topic was a topic I loathed and said screw it

Wow. Other than the fact that I had to take a MAJOR **** during the PS section, everything went very smoothly.

PS - calculation heavy and a lot of weird questions. This is my strongest section though so I'm not that worried about it. Finished with about 4 minutes to spare. Predict a 12.

V - first 3 passages and last passage were easy. Middle 3 were hard. I felt good about it but I never know about verbal. Predict a 10.

BS - very very very easy compared to my BS section on my 9/1 MCAT last year. There were 2 experimental biology passages and after going through the hard ones on my last test, these were cake. I also had 3 orgo passages (LOL), one of which was pretty experimental and hard. Discretes were easy; got one wrong though. Predict a 13.

Prediction: 35 (12PS, 10V, 13BS)
🙂

I find it impossible to predict how I did. One one hand I think I could have done well, (30+), on the other I think I could have scored within my range, (28), and I feel like I could have bombed it, (24).

PS: I don't even remember this section. I do remember feeling like it was pretty easy and straight forward at the beginning, then it got really calculation heavy from the middle -> end. I tried my best to get to question 52 and skip/mark the calculation heavy ones, which I did, but I still had to guess on 5 or so questions at the end. Sucks. Let's hope for an 8.

Verbal: Usually my best subject. I felt like the passages were longer than aamc practice tests and I felt like the answer choices forced me to refer back to the passage a bit more. I was pulling 11-12 on my practice tests, let's hope for a 9-10 here.

BS: Was this an Orgo test? I felt like we were fish slapped with Orgo on this. Not that I mind, I would take an Orgo passage any day of the week and twice on Sunday over the crazy experimental passages like we had on #11. Because I am doubting my performance on Verbal, I am doubting my performance on Bio. Let's hope for a 9-10.

Prediction? If I score at the top of my "hope" 28. I was really really REALLY hoping for a 30+ and I will star at my screen in complete disbelief if I score a 24 on this.

PS: What the H@&$ll. That is all.
Verbal: Felt on par with AAMC, less boring than AAMC 10
BS: Disturbingly easy and very happy with 3 Orgo passages. Hoping and praying this section saves my abysmal PS performance.
Was shooting for a 35, would have been happy with a 30 now praying for 28+.
Unfortunately my feelings on a section never correlate with the scale so I have no clue how this is gonna come out.

Yep. Because BS was relatively "easier" seeming than the other aamc's, I'm worried the curve will be mighty fierce and will result in a lower score.

Ugh, this month is going to be brutal. Train for 3-4 months. Take a test. Wait a month and then see if you have to do it all over again. 👎

Yeah my intuition isn't good for PS like it is for orgo or bio so I'm sure I got a decent amount of those weird questions wrong. BS was too easy so now I think I didn't choose "the best answer" on a lot.

Verbal I describe the same as always: who the fu*k knows.

I'm glad to be done. Congrats everyone! We finished.

I will say this. I definitely remember more questions this time around and passage content than I did last year so I'm hoping. Also, for someone with slight OCD, they gave me locker number 10. Lol!

PS: OMG! Calculations and pressed for time. One passage I was lost on. Has always been my weakest section so I predict a 7-8.

VR: Felt the same as usual. Nothin out of the ordinary. Had more topics I was interested in so I stayed we'll focused. I agree that the passage length was longer than most and that you had to refer back to the passage more than other tests, but I felt good about my understanding of every passage. I'm predicting at maybe above my average, 11-12?

BS: I'm good at organic, especially the topics they presented so I felt great during this section. The rest of it was like a VR section. I felt challenged on maybe 5 questions, the rest were all findable within the passage. AAMC 11 BS was much more difficult IMO. I'm predicting at or 1 above my average, 10-11.

Best case scenario I guessed well on PS and scored a 30 overall. I'm think more around a 28 though.

PS - I thought it was tough. What the f***. I ran out of time on 6 - 7 questions. Had to guess.

VR - much more easier and bearable than aamc practice tests.

BS - it was also on the easy side, except for the one passage

PS - I thought it was tough. What the f***. I ran out of time on 6 - 7 questions. Had to guess.

Me too. I'm hoping my Christmas treeing was unusually lucky. One of the girls in my section told me she didn't finish the BS section. At least I can say I didn't leave anything blank

PS was awful for me too. I had a panic attack, and that's never happened to me before, and I actually had to leave the room. When I came back I ended up blindly guessing on 6-7 questions. And the rest I couldn't really think because I was freaking out.
It wasn't actually harder than the practice tests, just my response to it was awful.
Planning a retake! Does anyone know if you can retake it before the scores come out? Bc I think my problem wasn't the content.

PS: this was definitely harder than any aamc I took 🙁 ..too many calculation and strange subjects.
VR: i thought this was ok, but i usually score the same regardless of what whether I thought it was easy or not.
BS: I thought this was on the harder side that I was use to. why all the stupid orgo. 🙁

Am just praying for the best

I finished the verbal section with 10 minutes left, reviewed my marked questions until the time ran down, then randomly discovered that I had left a verbal question blank when the "your time is up" notification popped up 😡

Re. PS:
Did anybody get an easy discrete that seemed, if you remembered to pay attention to the units, that the math just didn't work out?

Am I the only person on here who voided this godforsaken exam!?

I practically had a panic attack during the PS section and that's generally my strongest section.

Verbal and Bio were on par or easier than usual. Orgo...not so much.

Averaged 37.4 for the AAMCs 9-11. I don't know how else I could have prepared for that. Definitely much harder than the practice exams.

I think I know which question you are talking about.

I remember that I marked that entire set of discretes (4 questions i think?) LOL

Looks like majority of people, even those previously strong in PS, thought it was a SOB.

I certainly hope so. I went through that problem about 10 times and there is no way that there is a correct answer listed. They will probably just throw out the question... I hope... =P

congrats to both of yall

PS: definitely too many calculations. I was really happy there wasnt any real physics on here. but I ran out of time and guessed on 5-6 questions...
VR: I felt really good about this for some reason except that one passage ( are we allowed to say what it was about?)
BS: harder than any AAMC, but manageable. finished with 10 minutes left and just verified the answers on the ochem passages with the remaining time.

Predictions 10-11PS/ 10-11VR/ 11-12BS
31-34

Really pissed about losing time with the PS though..

Am drafting a letter right now. I'm pretty angry about this because it ate up most of the time I should have been reviewing answers.

I've encountered wrong physics answers before on e-mcat, but I'm disgusted that they allow these questions to slip through on the real thing, assuming the 5 of us aren't wrong.

Im going to call AAMC next week. I spent a good 5 minutes rereading and rereading the question to see if I misread something or my eyes deceived me. I truly believe that question was wrong.

I think I know what question everyone is up in arms about. Yea for some reason my answer choice wasn't an option. I just assumed it was me even though I never thought a discrete like that would ever bother me. It's hard to believe that they would make a mistake though. It could be that we all may have thought of the problem incorrectly.

which one are yall talking about?

i might know what you guys are talking about but im not entirely sure. PS was such a blur to me. I can't really recall much from it. however, if this gives us anything, that'll be great so good job picking up on it.

I don't know if I know which question you guys are talking about. It's also possible that it's just an experimental question if it really was wrong. The only answers I thought were wrong were because I must have skipped basic arithmetic.

I'm just going to make a prediction based on how I felt during AAMCs vs. this test. Not like it matters how off the prediction might be anyway...it's just for fun 🙂.

PS- 12 or 13. I usually panic my way through the first few passages, which worked in my favor here with about 10 minutes to review all of my iffy answers.

VR - 10. Definitely did not do as well as on the other AAMCs. I thought the questions were way more ambiguous with many passages I just didn't get a good feel for. I also couldn't focus as well, because I was given a seat near the door 😡 I just spent the last 4 minutes to review the passage I thought was roughest, but I didn't end up changing any answers :/.

BS - 14 or 15. BS was really easy, except for maybe one passage. Finished with 20 minutes (!) to review all passages and answers.

Estimate 36-38, which would fall in my AAMC range. Hopefully I don't regret a rather optimistic prediction.

Units?!? We're talking about units??? Not an answer, man, we're talking about units. /AllenIverson

I wonder if I take the test tomorrow if bio will be more bio and less orgo. I wish my score would play on my strengths, but it def didn't represent what I knew. I agree on the question without the correct answer. Overall, it just sucked.

Just got back from the test:

PS: Calculation heavy, as many people had said. I stumbled on a few of the passages. The middle passages were pretty tricky.

VR: Meh. It's VR. Always a crapshoot

BS: Orgo heavy, which was good for me. People are saying that orgo is appearing less and less on the MCAT. Be prepared for anything! There were a few tough discretes, and there was one tough passage that seemed very, very verbalesque that I stumbled upon.

Hard to predict how I did. I'm just glad to be done!

PS: I almost started crying. That stuff was way too hard. Can't predict my score
VR: May much easier than I expected, This is my weakest from previous exam
BS: This was also difficult, this is normally my strongest part

In general, this exam was way too complicated, if u think u did all props, to u, but I am not confident at all. PS was too much calculation, too much essay, BS - way too much reading, but surprisingly the O-chem was way much easier for me: LOL F********** my life.

Hey QtrLifeCrisis,
That's about my average too but I didn't void- I was planning to, but then I made a last minute decision not too. Totally agree about the PS. When are you going to retake it? I'm thinking of trying for next week or something.

I'll have to buckle down and pay the late fee (on top of the registration fee), but I plan to retake it May 11th. It's such a sham that they make you wait 48 hours to register again after voiding; otherwise, I wouldn't have to pay the $70 penalty.

I was unsure as well and considered keeping it, but the last orgo passage made the decision for me. Sounds like other folks had problems with PS as well, so maybe the PS curve would have helped me, but I did not want to chance it. Why did you decide to keep yours?

seriously nobody want to talk about it? lol - i might just be weird since i dont like being unsure about my score

i think everyone is scared/paranoid of getting caught..

besides you cant do anything to change your score. having said that, I will be playing Xbox Live. post up your gamer tag.

When the void option comes at the end, I got the same feeling I get when I buy a scratch ticket. My brain whispers "I know I am going to loose, but I want to see how lucky I am".
I guess I will find out a month from now.

On a side note: I thought the trial section was easy.

I don't know if not voiding was the right decision. When the screen came up to choose to void or not, I hadn't decided yet. So I just clicked the option to get the score without even thinking about it. Ugh. During the PS section I was sure that I would void it, but maybe by the end of the exam I just didn't want everything I went through to be worthless.
But anyways, I'll let you know if I decide on a retake! I want to do it soon before I forget everything.

were not talking about the test.... .... :ninja:

but seriously, same thing in the 1/27 thread

PS sucked for me too.. left 4-5 blank like a ***** 🙁
VR: no clue, was pressed for time at the end
BS: I thought was generally easy

Getting away from the substance of the exam, is anyone else concerned about the testing center, like glitches on the availability of the practice section and names not showing up in the name blanks?
