The Official January 10, 2015 MCAT Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Nice, were picking up some traction.

Please, let it be that the 1/10 examinees achieve an actual score of at least +1.88 ABOVE their MCAT average (reference to TonyTonyChopper's statistical assessment) and that the exam be deemed HARD by AAMC and thus given a friendly scaling in all sections!

I am really starting to doubt if i even get a 22 at this point. I cannot remember any of the test anymore and I just took a Biochem exam today with 3 tests next week. My brain is mush. Getting my MCAT score will either help me out next week or ruin Spring/Summer for me!

@mslm5401 I rounded my scores to make it easier for you to put into a graph. My AAMC average actually was 25.25 or something and my AAMC 10-11 was 27.5 .

@juice31 Nice increase for 10-11. And thank you for the consideration!

As a side note, TonyTonyChopper has devised a (quite ingenious) method for accounting for unrounded numbers, and so you can feel free to put in your exact average if you'd like (it yields more precise averages for comparison to actual scores, but the same result as a rounded number in the graph).

24+ for me = getting

I also left out AAMC 3 because I took it before I really started studying so it was definitely an outlier. It really did not change the the mean much at all from around a 25.

Haha that sounds fine. Honestly, we're not gonna get anywhere near 'perfect' data because of the laughably small sample size to begin with. Then you consider unwitting bias and the fact that we're taking what everyone posts at face value (it's easy to smudge things when you have an shield of anonymity). So you leaving out a discrepancy doesn't change much, because the data was flawed to begin with. So that's perfectly alright 🙂

Hahahaha I know you're honest (and I might even believe the fact that you have a bible sitting on your desk right now to validate that statement LOL). I actually believe that most people on here are telling the truth. But we have zero way of knowing, so the numbers really should be taken with a grain of salt anyways. Statistically speaking, these data are near meaningless. But I still think it's cool to see. And it can have threads of useful information.

Too bad the MCAT is changing. If this could have been compiled for multiple different test dates, we might actually have had some meaningful results.

AAMC 10-11 average: 35

Probably being way too optimistic but felt good after the test. Felt like any other AAMC test. Let's hope it translates in the final score

@Jhakaasmaan It's nice to see some optimism. There's definitely a discrepancy between averages and predictions (34.2 vs 29.9). It's refreshing to see someone who isn't doubting themselves, no matter the final outcome. 🙂

Felt pretty good about it after and have always been strong in PS, so that tough PS section didn't seem too crazy to me... Guess we'll see

Good luck guys! Just dropping by because my sdn handle was tagged here. You guys took your exam on my bday lol. Hopefully the next couple of days goes by quickly. The wait is excruciating, but remember, many have done the month wait before. It's sort of a tradition I guess haha
TonyChopper! I remember you from the aug mcat thread!!! So I'm glutton for punishment waiting for this score AGAIN...just a few days out. Thanks for the support bro hope all is well with you.

Hi! New SDNer here (just made an account 10 seconds ago so I could post here, haha). I took the 1/10 MCAT, too, and felt like complete **** afterwards (that damn PS section...). After reading everybody else's take on the test, though, I feel slightly better about it. Just thought I'd join the club and post my average/expected scores:

Test date: 1/10/2015
Time: 1 pm
AAMC average: 31-32 (really some decimal in between, but I don't feel like calculating it rn)
AAMC 10-11 average: 32 (10/11/11)
Post test expected score: 31 (9/11/11)
Actual score: please gawd anything over 30 (and a 9 in PS), please please pleaseeee

Good luck to everybody else!

Everybody here makes it sound like they're post-test expected score is right around their AAMC 10-11 average. I feel like mine was so much lower. Dwamn.

@juice31 Don't worry... 10-11 averages right now are about 3 points higher than predicted scores. And that's averaging, with some people who think they did better and others who think they did worse. And there are people who have a predicted score discrepancy even greater than yours. You're not the only one!!

I'll take the new test if I have to but that just sounds terrible right now. I would hate to have to explain it to everyone that asks how my test went that I have to retake. Most of them already think I'm lying when I say I have to wait a month for a computerized test score.

Ok, my turn. It's almost here!

Test date: 1/10/2015
Time: 1 pm
AAMC average: 29
AAMC 10-11 average: 29 (10/9/10)
Post test expected score: 30 (10/9/11)
I am really hoping for that 30+. I felt good after the BS section, considering I caught a few errors. I felt VR was comparable to the practice tests. And yeah PS was tough, but I think I did about average on it.

@juice31 Have faith in yourself!! You don't know anything about what you'll have to tell people until Tuesday. You did the best you could.

@Cawolf I freaked myself out a little too. I shouldn't have calculated hours... it was just too tempting. (and lol at first I thought you were referring to the data and I was slightly confused 😛 )

@oobie I was wondering where you went! I already had a spot on the spreadsheet for you 🙂
