The Official June 13, 2014 MCAT Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Just logged in to the the website...I knew scores weren't up but it's like this compulsive urge I can't stop. Need to distract myself somehow

Anyone else legitimately feel like they have to puke? It feels like it's just sitting at the back of my throat waiting to come up.

wow i'm scared.
if somebody sees scores go up please post. i'd be refreshing every 10 seconds but i gotta prepare myself before i see this kind of good news and/or horror.
😳

Here is the format that most of these threads use to post scores, for when they actually come out.

Test Date: 6/13/2014
FL AAMC Average: xx
Post-test expected score: xx
Actual Score: ( PS / V / BS) xx (x/x/x)
Comments:

AAMC average: around 30
Post test expected: didn't care to calculate. Felt good about verbal and bio, horrible about PS
Score: 7/10/10

Definitely applying this year. Applying to DO now, Applying to instate MD now, unsure if I will retake or not. Increased score from 22 to 27 on this retake. Last score was 8/8/6

I'd feel a lot better if I had gotten at least an 8 on PS. Any advice on whether an 8 is a strict cut off for schools? I know my score is within range for both in state schools

Test Date 6/13/2014
FL AAMC Average 37
Post Test expected Score 36
Actual Score 38 (14/12/12)

I honestly thought the PS section was brutal and I thought it was gonna break me. I am so happy right now! Time to crack open an Oberon

Test Date: 6/13/2014
FL AAMC Average: 32
Post-test expected score: 28
Actual Score: 31 (10/10/11)
Comments:
My practice tests were 32s/33s but I will take it - seeing as I reeeally struggled with time on actual test day, and then I struggled BAD. I also finished school the first week of May, so I had about 5 weeks to study. Not too bad! This was my first (and only, now that I scored decently) time taking it.

Got the exact same Zippy. I was pretty disappointed with the 7 on Ps. I was also disappointed with the 10 VR, thought I did really well on it, but I was happy with how Bio went.

Same, thought I rocked VR, but the scale was probably harsh. You gonna retake? I'm very grateful for the 5 point increase, obviously, but can't help being disappointed still. Although 27 is still not a bad score.

32
PS: 10
VR: 10
BS: 12

Was really hoping for a 35 and I felt like I did much better than a 10 on VR so that's surprising. Expected the 10 on PS and am quite happy with the 12 on BS. Don't think I'll need to retake since my GPA is quite good. Congrats to everyone!

Test Date: 6/13/2014
FL AAMC Average: 30.33
Post-test expected score: 27-30
Actual Score: ( PS / V / BS) 33
(11/11/11)
Comments: Ecstatic and surprised at the balance! Improved 6 points from my 1st MCAT.

Just curious what did you change from your first time studying?? Congrats on the score btw!!!

Test Date: 6/13/2014
FL AAMC Average: 36 (13/10/13)
Post-test expected score: No idea
Actual Score: ( PS / V / BS) 36 (12/11/13)
Comments: Physical sciences was a killer, big sigh of relief though. Congrats everyone

I think I will have to. I am from Canada and two of my in-province schools will require the 2015 MCAT for next cycle. 27 is definitely an acceptable score, and I am only going into my third year of undergrad, but I still feel disappointed.

Test Date 6/13/2014
FL AAMC Average 32-33
Post Test expected Score 30
Actual Score 33 (12/10/11)

This was my retake and I retook only because of verbal. Last time I had 30(11/7/12). Funny how my PS and BS switched scores, haha. Happy with the new score 🙂

Test Date: 6/13/2014
FL AAMC Average: 37
Post-test expected score: 34-38
Actual Score: ( PS / V / BS) 39
(13/11/15)
Comments: Wow, I can't really believe it. This score matches my highest AAMC and I in no way expected this to happen. Really just at a loss for words.

Test Date: 6/13/2014
FL AAMC Average: 36-37
Post-test expected score: 36
Actual Score: ( PS / V / BS) 33 (10/11/12)
Comments: Man this is disappointing. I never scored below 35 on my practice tests and I really thought I would hit my average. I am actually shocked how low my PS is considering how well I thought I did on it. Considering I am applying MSTP this cycle, I don't know what to do. This is definitely too low for the schools I am applying too 🙁

Test Date: 6/13/2014
FL AAMC Average: 27
Post-test expected score: 22
Actual Score: ( PS / V / BS) 28 (7/11/10)
Comments: Wow. Honestly, I am so happy. That PS section killed me ... like I felt confident on 5 answers. My practice test averages were 9/9/9 across the board every time, so it would have been awesome to get a 9/11/10, but I am SO happy that it's a 7 and not a 4. I was expecting a 4. I did not pick up a verbal or biology book to study for the MCAT. Literally spent the entire 6 months studying physics and I STILL sucked at it... but I think this should be OK to apply for DO school sGPA 3.53, cGPA 3.65. Hopefully I get in somewhere... can't decide if I should retake. I have really good LORs, one from harvard, one from the head of the biology department, and i won research awards etc... should I apply for MD too?

I know how you feel, my last few FL's I were 35-37.... Got a damn 32.

Same. I don't need the new MCAT at all, and I'm in range for in state I just can't help still being disappointed. It sucks. But we did well. SDN isn't the majority of pre-meds and I'm not gonna compare myself to those who are disappointed with 32's and above. I'm gonna be a doctor one way or another, dammit. Haha 🙂

12/10/11!!! Last time I took this I got a 12/7/12 so to see that VR score increase is a god send for me! 😀

Test Date: 6/13/2014
FL AAMC Average: 29
Post-test expected score: 28-30
Actual Score: 28 ( PS / V / BS) (12/6/10)

Pretty bummed about verbal, was hitting 8 or 9 on most practice exams. Really surprised at PS, thought I missed a lot of questions. Not sure what to do now, if I want to retake or not? Just pretty bummed..... Should I be okay for DO schools? (3.8 cgpa)

Test Date: 6/13/2014
FL AAMC Average: 24...
Post-test expected score: ... LOL no clue.
Actual Score: ( PS / V / BS) 27 (10/7/10)

Comments: I am proud of that score (though I kind of hoped PS would be slightly higher, but what can you do?). VR was always my weak point and what I usually got on FLs (7) and I did run out of time with the last two passages...anyways, The madness that is the MCAT is finally over for me. I thank God for everything and whatever happens, happens.
I wish you all good luck with the rest of your endeavors.

That's a great outlook honestly. It may take a bit more time but it'll happen eventually! One way or another.

I hope you got your miracle!!

No, I did not receive my miracle...yet. I am somewhat disappointed in my score...scoring on the lower end but very balanced.
However, remember how I was praying for strength? Well I don't feel sad! I'm actually looking forward to slaying this beast.
On the other hand, congrats to you!! Also congrats to everyone that did well and no longer have to study haha
Good luck with the rest of the application process 🙂

Test Date: 6/13/2014
FL AAMC Average: 36 (35 if you include aamc 3 which I did a long time before proper prep)
Post-test expected score: had no clue but I was very worried about PS
Actual Score: ( PS / V / BS) 35 (12/11/12)...exact breakdown and score I got on aamc 9
Comments: Just thankful right now that I can put mcat behind me.

I might be retaking as well - still haven't decided. Good attitude, you'll do well enough to get in somewhere, and then ace your boards someday. Cheers!

Post-test expected score: Lord knows
Actual Score: ( PS / V / BS)
27 (7/10/10)
Comments: I dont know what to do guys. I knew PS killed me. Physics was never my strong suit. I'm afraid to retake and do worse. Underdog DO and MD applicant with 3.2 overall and science. I studied for 6 months for this test. Should I even apply this cycle? I have amazing EC and letters of rec.
