So we can talk about all things MCAT 2015.
Just registered too!
Just registered too!
me too!! woo!
Me three! Cannot wait to get this over with. I feel like every hour I wait, a little more information leaks out of my ears 😛
Yeah, I will definitely do that. It's nice that the TPR exams list the areas you need to focus on. I am also going to just read over the glossary in the back of the psych book to refresh myself with the terms. From what I've been hearing, getting a 513 on a TPR puts you in a great spot! I would just go over what you got wrong in the P/S section on the AAMC and see if there a trend as to what you're lacking in. I got a 31 last year too, so hopefully we both improve!
TPR core test scores. I'm not sure if people have different programs (mine was an incomplete/discounted course offered through my post bac program where we had access to the books and online modules for all subjects but only had instructors for physics, gen chem, organic chem, and psych). The one I took has 5 core tests and then a separate section for review and supplemental tests. I haven't gotten to the review tests yet since I just haven't had time :/Are those TPR course test scores? or TPR review test scores? I always get confused when people refer to TPR 1-3.
Either way those are solid scores! (thumbs up)
Yeah I spent a while freaking out about my math abilities on that one. They got it wrong. Reviewing EK1 was really helpful, but the solutions to EK2 were not very good. It's not just you, don't worry 🙂Yes! For example, if q^2 = 0.0025 how is it q = 0.005?? (question 136)
Wow, this is great! Thank you! From the few that I saw, it seems that people tend to do better on the actual MCAT than on the AAMC FL practice... Hopefully that remains the case and they didn't make it harder!libertyyne: check this out --> I think you wanted it: http://forums.studentdoctor.net/thr...d-practice-exam-scores.1143965/#post-16595966
Not sure if I should take this exam tomorrow. Got a 498 on the last test I took this past Wednesday. Is that a good score for the exam? I'm really lost. 🙁
What pka's are you going to put down? I never really thought to add that.It definitely is exciting. How much are you guys putting on your scratch paper for the 10 min tutorial? I'm def gonna put aa's, some pka's and then maybe some random formulas that I tend to forget.

I'm putting the lineweaver burke plot for common inhibitors
MNEMONICS. Lots of them. If you guys have any please share
ROY G BIV (light frequencies)
ADEK (Fat soluble vitamins)
GAPVLIMP (hydrophobic side chain)
Stuff like that. And as you said formulas.. I'm going to clump them in categories.. I'm going to write the ones I know cold too
You can just say the BC vitamins are water soluble, like BC powder lol. Thats how I remember itWhat pka's are you going to put down? I never really thought to add that.

Any mnemonics for sugars? I only have glucose's structure memorized. Not sure if we even need that.

Amine group 10
D E amino acids 4
H 6.5
K 10

did the Bio pack 1, Physics and Chem and got 81%,78%,68%. Gen chem is killing me![]()
They're not representative of the new exam! Just make sure you brush up on the concepts that you weren't quite getting during those packs
Now that I think about it.. the AAMC FL was really light on physiology. Anyone else notice that?
I think I read some feedback from test takers that their MCAT was also fairly light on physio. Someone had mentioned that they focused too much on that in their studies
I'm spending about 6 hours today on psych.. The questions in that section are so damn easy as long as you know the terms. All 6,000,000 of them..Does anyone else feel unprepared about psych/soc? I mean Ive memorized a lot of the terms and stuff from TPR and EK, and I feel confident about my data/experimental analysis part, but Jesus there are so many terms how are the all going to stick!?
Watching some crash course psychology, I spent the last couple of days freaking out, and feeling overwhelmingly unprepared. But life moves on eh...Does anyone else feel unprepared about psych/soc? Honestly, after looking through the AAMC outline, there is not much there IMO. Most of the stuff I was familiar with. Of course they can always go more in dept.I'm spending about 6 hours today on psych.. The questions in that section are so damn easy as long as you know the terms. All 6,000,000 of them..

I think if you look at the outline you will be surprised by how general it is. The only area thats iffy is the anatomy of the brain and the functions it has... there is a lot of terminology there. If there is any section that you can "go with your gut" other than CARS, it will be Psych.Honestly I'm too scared to look at the outline with my test tomorrow. I know that sounds dumb lol. I literally memorized the entire kaplan psych book and I still didn't recognize 2-3 terms on the AAMC fl though.. :/
Methionine also has a Sulfur group. Everything else you said is spot on though. This is perfect 🙂 I only had some AA's pKa's. Like Lys is around 10.6 (I remember it as 11. This is because the 11th letter of the alphabet is K which is the single letter abbreviation for Lys), His is about 6.8ish. Other important things about AA is glycine is the only one that achiral, Proline affects alpha helices, they are in beta turns, Cystein is the only S AA in term's of configuration, hmm.. I think that's about it. Someone please double check this just to make sure I'm not spitting out incorrect info.
I think that pretty much covers it 😉Does anyone know what symbols we need to know for the test?
For example, △ (delta) can mean either "change" or "lacking"
what else?
