Okay couple things:

Damn wish I had a heavy biochem test! Taking tomorrow! Fingers crossed for that 😉

Could not agree more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (yes I needed all of those exclamation points...!!!...!.......!!)

Second, coming from someone who has been going up and down on the "I'm freaking the eff out" to "I'm gonna kill this thing tomorrow" scale, we are all going to do amazing. We just have to relax, listen to some pump up music, and go over our strategies. There isn't much we can do now in terms of prepping but we can have a plan in case we have a freak out moment.

Started to feel horribly sick during CARS so I voided. I tired to stick through the other two sections just to get the feel of the exam for my retake.

PS- Physics Heavy and especially on a topic that I least expected.
CARS- Not bad despite me feeling nauseous (didn't finish)
Bio- Biochem Heavy!!!
Psych- Knew a lot more than I thought I would.

Phys: straightforward, lots of biochem and decent amount of physics
Verbal: As always
Bio: again biochem
Socio/Psych: very misleading imo.. more difficult than aamc fl

Here's what I thought:

Chem/phys: pretty straightforward. I thought the first half was more calculation heavy than the AAMC sample, but overall good vibes (at least on my version).

CARS: hmmm, not sure how to feel. I made some educated guesses on a few. Maybe my test was different than some of yours.

Bio/biochem: I liked this section! But then again, it's historically been my best section. Sorta biochem heavy, but fair.

Psych: Lol wut?

Hope I did well...

The decent amount of physics scares me, I did not prep for that lol. I know my basic kinematics and vague E&M, but if it's heavy on thermo/fluids, I am going to have a tough time. I knew the psych was going to be ridiculous haha. We are going to crush this stupid test WOOOOOHHHH!!!!!

I hardly knew ye

Feel like my overall score could go either way.

Cp: Felt like torture. Not sure if it's because it is my weakest area or if it was just that hard. I was scoring 9's. On the old practice tests and 68% on the new practice.

CARS: Felt like all the others. There were a few questions that I could make an argument for two different answers, which isn't cool. I typically scored 10s. Had one 12 and scored 93% on the new practice.

BS: Felt better than CP, but had a few passages that had my head spinning.

Psych: Some unfamiliar terms, but was able to narrow things down and hopefully make the right guess with the logic.

Hi everyone, I finished my exam a few hours ago and would like to share my experiences.

Overall, the AAMC materials were very representative of the actual test. I actually felt that the real test was more straightforward than the FL and the 120 guide questions, except for CARS. Maybe I got lucky.

C/P for me felt the most different from the FL and guide. The questions felt more like the chem and phys Qpacks (I did about 100 questions between the 2 of them) than the FL/guide.

CARS was hard. I was kinda bummed because I was consistently not doing badly for the last 3 weeks, but this exam probably broke that trend.

B/BC were pretty similar to FL/guide. I think reading and trying to understand a lot of scientific papers would help with the kind of thinking required for this section, but that's probably not the best use of time spent studying.

P/S requires a large breadth of info that doesn't seem to be fully covered by any one prep company. For this section, I would study using material from more than one source.

I was extremely nervous for a few hours before I started the exam. My heart raced and I felt like I couldn't breathe. It was very uncomfortable for a long time. But when I started answering questions, I realized that the hundreds of hours spent preparing for this exam left me in at least a decent place. I sort of went into auto-pilot and it was over super quickly. You guys and gals have worked hard. Although the suspense leading up to the exam feels like impending doom, you'll start the test and realize that it's familiar. I felt so much better once I started the exam, and then it was over. I hope this helps 🙂

Thought I did well in CARS and Psych but I was destroyed by the orgo in the PS section and all of this experimental design bullcrap that was put in the BIO section... Half the passages in Bio might as well have been written in Mandarin

did you get anxious? i find when i get super nervous, i feel the nausea setting in.

Im pretty sure I got wrecked, probably should have voided but didnt. CARs I thought was slightly harder than the AAMC FL, but I think I did well there. Every other section though was pretty much all stuff that I didnt focus on. Much more physics than I was expecting and not nearly as much biochem. I glossed over lab techniques in general and I regret it. If my intuition is right I will have to retake it, but Im hoping I got lucky.

Don't feel too defeated, we tend to only remember what we got wrong. I'm sure you did better than you think. If it was hard, it was hard for all the others too!

Wow... so yea.. I feel like crawling in a hole and dying right now

P/C: I had ALOT of orgo and physics. Barely any gen chem. Maybe a difficult calculation here and there but that's it.

CARS: Wasn't too bad, passages were super long though.

Bio/Biochem: The experiments were long, but with focus understandable.

Psych: wut?

My experience to a T.

P/C: oh my... Better be good at quick math. Definitely the hardest section. More physics than expected.

CARS: usually my worst section. The entire reason I re-took this entire new exam is because I wasn't happy with my verbal on the old exam. Very straight forward. Similar to aamc which was nice. Feeling very confident. Hopefully the cars gods look favorably upon me

B/BC: Taking upper level cell bio and micro definitely helped with this section. Didn't take a biochem specific class and didn't struggle TOO much but I did study it a lot. We'll see if my score begs to differ

P/S: well I finished with 30 minutes left... Not sure how to interpret that. A lot of definitions. Let me say that again. A lot of definitions. Along with some experimental analysis. I have no idea what to expect with this haha

Hey guys, I'm logging off for the night. Congratulations Friday takers! I know you all did very well. It's natural to feel like you didn't right after, but I'm sure you all did very well!

Saturday takers: Best of luck to everyone tomorrow! Get some good sleep and remember, be confident and think critically! I'll see you all on the other side for post-MCAT celebratory drinks 🙂 :highfive:

Ps: My plan for tomorrow (the mcat is the banana hehe):
:diebanana:

Good luck! Breath and focus tomorrow. You got this

Finally took the exam today! Congrats to all who took it! I thought it was very fair and used Kaplan/KA/AAMC practice banks and an last years TPR science workbook. Very similar to AAMC practice. Good luck!!
