The Official June 2015 MCAT Thread

So I am confident in all of my scores except Bio (I may be a bio-chem major with a 3.9..go figure). I got at 39-54 percentile. The school that I have the best chance of getting into allows one section with a 124. It looks like this will equal a 124 from what Heisenberg reposted from EverStriving. I am just wondering if I could end up with a 123. Just looking for insight...don't know what to do/think! THanks

Went from a 7 (37%ile) on old Verbal to 76-91% CARS...

For those of you verbal strugglers like me out there, it CAN be done

I was also a huge verbal struggler. I went from a 6 (27%) Verbal to also a 76 - 91% CARS.

IT CAN BE DONE. Don't give up. I made myself believe I could never score higher than an 125 (or ~8) on CARS/Verbal but worked my way towards what could possibly be a 127 (10 on the old test). Good luck!

CHEM/PHYS
62% - 77%
Critical Analysis and Reasoning Skills
65% - 80%
Biological and Biochemical Foundations of Living Systems
72% - 87%
Psychological, Social, and Biological Foundations of Behavior
81% - 96%
MCAT Total Score
71% - 81%
expectedly the two sections i didn't finish CARS and C/P we're my two lowest,

semi-non trad student, out of undergraduate for 6 years, acceptance to law school right after undergraduate than decided not for me, been in medicine 6 years, 6 years of clinical experience, great LOR, great clinical, solid volunteer/ECs (above average, but not any saving the kids in africa or anything),

post bacc gpa 3.85 (completed this past year)

sGPA is 3.67,

overall gpa 3.5 (first two years of college in 2005-06 and 06-07 when i was 18/19 were low immature, young partier, but that was 10 years ago,

My thoughts prior to release was
80+ % go time

70-80 % limbo

<70 retake

so with a 71%-81%, and consistent score ranges in all sections (no one section is a super out outlier)

i applied widely and broadly to 32 M.D. schools, private public, low tier, high tier, in state, out of state

what say the masses.... roll with it, or retake.

Your final scores & percentiles will be

CHEM/PHYS: 126 (67%)
Critical Analysis and Reasoning Skills: 126 (70%)
Biological and Biochemical Foundations of Living Systems: 127 (77%)
Psychological, Social, and Biological Foundations of Behavior: 128 (86%)

MCAT Total Score:
507 (74%) which is equivalent to a 29-30.

I would roll with it unless you're confident you could SIGNIFICANTLY improve. I think you should get at least one MD acceptance, though. Congrats!!

Need Advice from you experts!

Chemical and Physical Foundations of Biological Systems 40% - 55%
Critical Analysis and Reasoning Skills 85% - 100%
Biological and Biochemical Foundations of Living Systems 72% - 87%
Psychological, Social, and Biological Foundations of Behavior 50% - 65%
MCAT Total Score 65% - 75%

I am kicking myself because I know Physical Sciences has always been my weakness. However I am a Texas Resident Applying for MD and DO schools in Texas. My question is with these test scores, 3.5 GPA and experience as a combat medic overseas with thousands of hours under doctors and PAs do I have a chance with a loaded resume even if my MCAT scores were "Meh"?

Psych/Soc: 61-76.
Overall: 58-68 but by my calculations 59-74, how does that work?

GPA 3.77, scienceGPA: 3.75 from University of Illinois, Chem major. I think I can get into a few mid tier med schools but maybe none of the high end ones. jd989898 could u please predict my score too?

I took the exam on June 19th.

C/P: 62-77% (was super worried about this one so PHEW! could be much worse)
CARS: 85-100%
Bio: 82-97%
P/S: 85-100%
Overall: 86-96%

I am so relieved! To me based on April and May scores this looks like this will be about a 513 or 514, or approximately equivalent to a 33. I'm not planning on applying to Harvard so GOOD ENOUGH FOR ME. Congrats to everyone!

cars score might screen you out depending on where you are applying

I need some Help predicting were my scores will likely fall. Will I be Good for MD or DO?

Wow, we have very similar profiles. My MCAT scores:
Chem/Phys: 62-77%
CARS: 65-80%
Bio: 72-87%
P/S: 85-100%
Overall: 77-87%

I've also completed a post-bac program with similar GPAs all-around.
I'm about to take the plunge and apply to 30 or so schools...I think we should roll with it, go all out with secondaries (get them in early!)
it's funny our scores are so similar, you seem to maybe have gotten 1 or 2 more questions on the P/S which moved you from my range of 82-96 to the 85-100, range for that section, it's kind of crazy that that would move your whole total score into the 77-87 range.... would that lead you to believe that my 71-81 is probably in the high range of the score percentile

CP: 128 (87%)
CARS: 123-124 (33-44%)
Bio: 129-132 (93-100%)
pysch: 128 (86%)

Total: 508-512 or 77% to 87%. Or 30-32 on old scale
All my scores are awesome except CARS... do you think I would get denied from med school because of that one section?

Hey guys, I need some advice.

CP: 50-65%
Cars: 9-24%
Bio: 49-64%
Psych: 7-22%
Total: 22-32%

can somebody please help me work out what overall score I'm likely to get. Also how on earth did you guys study for the Pysch and Cars section? 🙁 I only used the Examkrackers review books

So I have been creeping on these posts for sometime now and I got my scores today and I am looking for some feedback.
PS- 62-77%
CARS- 76-91%
Bio- 62-77%
Psych- 85-100%
Overall- 74-84%
I have a M.S. in a research field with a 3.8 overall and 3.9 science GPA, decent clinical experience and 2000 hours of volunteering. I feel pretty confident that I will get into M.D. programs in my state. What do you all think? Thanks in advance for any feedback.

CARS: 124 (44%)
BB: 126-127 (67-77%)
Psych: 126 (66%)

Final: 503-504 or 61-64% which is about 27 on the old scale. I'd retake if going for MD. Should be good for DO

These were my scores: Should I consider a retake for MD schools? I have a 3.59cGPA and 3.4sGPA.

CP: 62-72%
CARS: 82-97%
Bio: 62-77%
Psych: 38-53%

Overall score would be too low, unfortunately 🙁 I would retake for sure! Good luck, keep your chin up!

CARS: 28-43

CP: 128 (87%)
CARS: 123-124 (33-44%)
Bio 128 (87%)

Final 505-506 ( 68-71%). which is 28-29 on old MCAT. Definitely good enough for DO. Probably wanna retake for MD

I'm in the same exact boat except my 128s were in CARS and Bio. I'm just expecting a conservative 515 (93%) so I'm not disappointed lol. No problem

Would you say it's worth applying to Hopkins with our scores? I figure they wouldn't rule us out because of that score, right?

All my scores are awesome except CARS... do you think I would get denied from med school because of that one section?

I got the same range for my CARS as well. I think that I would go ahead and research MCAT requirements for the schools you are interested in. Some schools have thresholds for each subject that must be met or else you'll be screened out. That being said, I keep telling myself that 7-8 on the old verbal (hopefully corresponding to that 28-43% range) is still good enough to get into medical schools... What I'm worried about is I got 85-100% on both C/P and B/Biochem along with a 28-43% on CARS, which is imbalanced. I hope that's not an automatic red flag for MD or DO schools 🙁

What's up with the broad ranges? I thought they were ranges of 10...

Chem/Phys: 82% - 97%
CARS: 85% - 100%
Bio: 85% - 100%
Psych/Soc: 85% - 100%
Total : 90% - 100%

As long as I'm above 90%, though, I'm STOKED!!

I'm really surprised by my reading score. It's never been my best but never this bad:
CP: 82-97
CARS: 28-43 (WOW)
Bio: 85-100
Psych: 81-96
Overall: 74-84

Should I retake because of CARS? :/
UGH I'm in the same position as you. I bombed CARS and I keep seeing that schools don't want a section score under 125...IDK what to do

What's up with the broad ranges? I thought they were ranges of 10...

Chem/Phys: 82% - 97%
CARS: 85% - 100%
Bio: 85% - 100%
Psych/Soc: 85% - 100%
Total : 90% - 100%

The highest range (85-100%) is the only one that's 15% wide. It's also the only range that corresponds to more than one score. In fact, it corresponds to four. (129,130,131, and 132).

This means that your final score could be anything from 515 to 524. Congrats!

I'm officially shook and have no idea where to go from here. Just got my prelims and this is what I got...
Chem: 40%-55%
Cars: 53%-68%
Bio: 27%-42%
Psych: 27%-42%

This makes absolutely no sense at all to me. I took 5 practice tests and was doing really well on them. How is it possible that I slipped that bad on the real thing???

I got pretty much the same results you did and I have no idea how I did so terribly. I felt so confident about the psych, CARS and BIO. but I got exactly what you got. I'm in utter shock and just feel defeated.

Even though I did well, I honestly thought my test went very well and expected to do better. It's important to remember that we're not competing with the general population. Being compared to other MCAT testers who likely dedicated months to studying for this single exam is fierce competition. I definitely underestimated it.

Chem/Phys: 64-77%
Cars: 9-24%
Bio/Biochem: 49-64%
Psych: 50-65%
Total: 37-47%

I set up a meeting with the Dean of Admissions at the MD school I was going to apply early decision to, however, I obviously blew my shot this year with my absolute garbage CARS score. He informed me that they were taking applications from anyone in the 50th percentile and up for early decision because they are basing their assessment of the new MCAT percentiles on the previous mcat (3-45 range) when it was first implemented. They found that the people that they accepted who scored in the 50th percentile the first year that the old MCAT was administered did just fine on step 1 and went on to become successful MD's. However, he informed me that this would obviously change in roughly 3 years (based on previous matriculation data) due to the innovation of the curriculum of test prep companies to better prepare their students.

Here's what I took away from this meeting: this is the year to apply. Even if your scores are not exactly what you would like, apply anyway. What do you have to lose? Medical schools simply don't know how to assess this new test simply because it's so different from the old one. The learning curve is unavoidable and I think we should do our best to take advantage of it. Granted, this wasn't a top MD school, more along the lines of middle of the road, but it's still MD. Just some food for thought...

C/P: 74%-89%

Bio: 85%-100%

Big sigh of relief. I've been legitimately having nightmares that I accidentally voided or something. Congrats to everyone and best of luck to you all 🙂 Time for a beer.

I did very poorly with an overall of 12-22%. I am so embarrassed and am wondering what I should do. I know that I have to retake but I already put my primaries in. What should I do????

hi there,
could i please get a score prediction? thanks!

Chemical and Physical Foundations of Biological Systems 50% - 65%
Critical Analysis and Reasoning Skills 76% - 91%
Biological and Biochemical Foundations of Living Systems 62% - 77%
Psychological, Social, and Biological Foundations of Behavior 61% - 76%

MCAT Total Score 61% - 71%

Tip for those retaking:

Just because you spend a lot of "time" (i.e. "months") preparing for it, remember that the quality of study time is much more important. I studied intensely for 1 month. I spent roughly 10 hours a day for 4 weeks and that was it.

I personally think anything more than that is overkill because you forget more than you learn

Hope this helps and all the best.
