The Official June 5, 2014 MCAT Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
How y'all doing? Just about to be back home from a much needed vacation. Hope everyone else has had time to enjoy themselves.

Being a retaker, I've gone through this wait before. I feel a lot more laid back about the whole situation than I did the first time.

Good luck!

I'm getting a cavity filled in 30 minutes. The feeling of dread I have for having a needle shoved into my gums and a hole drilled in my tooth doesn't even touch the anxiety I had on test day. It's thus safe to say that I'd rather have a cavity filled than take this test again.

I had about one consecutive week where I was really calm about waiting for the MCAT scores to come back.

But these past few days, I feel like I am going to go crazy. I *need* to see my score or I'm going to snap.

Just finished first week of work! Submitted AMCAS and working on AMCOMAS... started studying for mcat if i've to retake....took kaplan 1 FL: scored 13/7/11..kaplan scores are definitely inflated cuz 41/52 is NOT 13!!

my plan for the remainder of the day is to stay in bed in my underwear and play competitive tetris while getting cookie crumbs stuck in my beard.....and not cleaning it

Since we're just waiting for our MCAT scores, im just gonna go ahead and say that after watching 2 seasons of Game of Thrones so far, I really really hate Jamie Lannister

I was opposed to watching it at first as well because all my friends were telling me about it and it didnt sound that great. However, when I started watching it, I was hooked. Its very difficult to get bored with this show

Its really starting to bother me that I cant see my score. July 8th feels like its never going to actually get here. Time just feels like its slowing down and im running out of things to keep me preoccupied. I dont even wanna try and estimate my score

Well remember thus: Diagon Alley in Orlando opens on July 8th and if I have bombed the MCAT at least I know I am sitting on an invitation to join Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry!!

wasn't anxious for the last two weeks..was occupied with apps. since i submitted them, now i'm going crazy!!

I think I am gonna stay away from sdn for the remaining two weeks. Im gonna try and forget the MCAT exists. Maybe I could spend it actually doing my medical terminology class. Or I might spend my days going on runs. Anyways, take care guys. I will see you guys on July 7th or 8th

Haha! Seasons 3 and 4 are hands down my favorite seasons. Hope you enjoy them!

I wish they would just tell you the score right there on the computer when you finish, just like when you finish the practice FL's. I know they have to "validate" the scores and whatnot, but there's no reason they can't tell you the score first! If there is a problem later, couldn't they just take action after the fact? Where is the harm in knowing our scores before the the validation process? Don't they know we are under enough stress already? Plus, it would be helpful to know your scores so you can make better judgement on which schools to apply to. AAMC, if you're listening..............

I know I said I was gonna leave sdn for 2 weeks, but I just had to say that I saw the red wedding and I am just emotionally broken. Its like I'm in an abusive relationship with this show

Lol yeah a very difficult relationship to escape. If you get chance, look up the animated lore history videos of GoT by a guy on youtube named The Boss Owl.

the suicide rate is going to go up if this happens!

It's not the hype that bothers me; I just rarely like the fantasy genre. I don't even know what it is. Couldn't stand LOTR.

I hated Lotr 1 cause there was too much Frodo and hes the worst protagonist you could ever have. 2 was better but also very slow. I didnt like 3 because there was a decent amount of frodo and hes awful. On the other hand, I loved the hobbit book and the movies.

GoT is a fantasy but its more grounded in reality than LotR. It works by our world's rules but it has all the cool things you would want like dragons and giants. The best thing about this show is that you honestly wont ever have a clue what is coming next and when it gets you, you're hooked.

You could be right. I may just concede and allow him to show me sometime. Perhaps I'd be surprised. I don't know though. Everything I hear about it beyond general statements about how it grasps you or whatever are things that are more likely to repel me than draw me in. I heard a lot of the same things about OITNB and hated that too, lol. I loved Breaking Bad for roughly seasons 1 and 2, then really didn't like 3-5.

What can I say... I fail at pop culture. 😛

BB season 5 was the greatest season of any show ever IMO. To each his own I guess...

Lol. I actually left my earplugs in my locker during PS. Anyway, ONLY 12 days and 13 hours til our scores are released.

I wish I would have forgotten my earplugs, they were only a bigger distraction for me... But I only had four people in my test room.:slap:

Until now I have had 3 MCAT related dreams/nightmares. Not bad considering it's only 3 in 3 weeks. Expect neuroses to exponentially increase closer to the date though.

this last week is def gonna be the hardest. I have no idea how im gonna get through it. Might actually have to start doing hw

applying this year? done with app? man this mcat is the only thing dragging me down...hopefully this is the last time i've to take it.

nah I decided to apply next summer after my senior year is done with. I wanted to take the extra time and get my 3.6 gpa to a 3.7 or higher. Also, the extra time would be useful to get more experience with extra cred activities and retaking the MCAT if necessary. I wanna honestly say I gave it my all when I apply

I'm scheduling my weekend to the max with fun/outdoor activities. Then, another work week to slog through, and before we know it, JUDGMENT DAY will be upon us and will hit me in the face. :inpain:

By then I will wish I were back in the sloooooow but hopeful days of the unknown.

You're going to be fine!!

So, just curious, have any of you signed up for another MCAT date? I'm assuming any MCAT we take now will not count for this cycle... is that right?

The purpose is to create "weighted" scores based on performances... not sure if it's a good or bad thing. I had a kid taking it with me group... and dear lord his dad, mom and siblings were there pumping him up and quizzing him on bio. pretty sure he'll score a 45... damn.

Just got back from 3 weeks in latin america where the MCAT was the last thing on my mind. The next week is gonna be absolutely brutal though...

They do not weight the scores based on performance. The score ranges are determined prior to anyone taking the test, and nobody's performance changes that. It is not "curved" based on the performance of the people taking that actual test.
