***The Official UCSF Class of 2021 Interview/Acceptance Thread***

Yeah I listed it on the pre req sheet as "planned" for the semester of spring 2017 and the school was just TBD. I didn't put it on my aadsas app because I didn't want schools to hold me accountable for it if i didn't need it. I'm literally only gonna take it if I decide to go there. Pretty unfortunate that I'll have to take an intro level bio class that I've probably already learned everything about. Wish they could just look at my DAT bio score and just waive it lol

Did you put anything for "course number" and "course title"?

do you guys it would be too late to apply here this cycle with a late august dat?
cgpa=3.64, sgpa=3.49 + tons of research experience

Just got an email saying that my supplemental was received and now entering "review process"

As long as I fill out the pre-req sheet using Adobe Reader Acrobat on my MacBook, it'll all show up fine in their system right? I just wanted to double check before with others before submitting.

Yes that is what I did, just make see to save as PDF and not just save if you do it in apple preview

Since I took two quarters of biochemistry, should I list both or just one?

so.....basically everyone got the supplement right lol ? cause why would you apply when you know you didn't even meet the minimum requirement ? lol

OMG, I am so stupid. Guys learn my lesson and do not make the same mistake. I completed the supplemental and paid, but did not click submit in the end. UCSF email me and ask me whether I want my application get reviewed. OF COURSE!!!!! I just called them to fix it. My heart almost fly out from my chest. Guys learn my lesson, double check about your submitting.

I submitted the supplemental Friday and haven't gotten confirmation either

I think you will get a confirmation email after the deadline to submit has passed. That's when I got mine (I submitted mine after 4 days or so and didn't get a confirmation until the 2 week deadline date).

Just curious, but everyone just has four essays for the UCSF supplemental, correct?

I guys double check the online application, you might just like me did not submit it instead of just paying fee. DOUBLE CHECK IT.

Four if you exclude the optional one, but I'd try to fill in something for that section as well.

I lived in Mexico for a couple of years, so I think i might include a bit of information on that for the optional essay.

I submitted the supplement about a week ago, my deadline was 7/28. However, I still have yet to receive a supplement received email. Anyone else in the same boat?
How many days did it take for you guys to get your supplement received emails?

I have a "payment received" email, but no confirmation on the app. However, when you log onto the UCSF portal it should say that the application should be received.

As far as I am concerned, everything being received by them is good enough for me, and I wouldn't worry about how fast they process the apps.

Hello! I have a question about prerequisite section on the supplemental application...

So when we list courses under General Biology/Zoology W/Lab, do we not include other courses that are listed as Biology in our AADSAS application? (ex: Molecular Biology/Evolutionary Biology)?

Thank you so much everyone and good luck!

I only listed my general biology classes which were "cell and molecular biology" and "biology of organisms". I am, however, a California resident so I was able to use assist.org to fill out the pre-requisite sheet. Idk if you can use that as well.

Hey! Thank you so much for the reply, I truly appreciate it 🙂

I am debating whether to only put "Foundations of Modern Biol I&II" as my Gen Bio courses...

Maybe the best bet is to give them a call. However, it sounds like no matter what, you have the general prerequisite completed. I think you are fine.

I know what the date is I meant in the essence of they haven't technically started reviewing my application as complete yet...
I don't think that really matters. They did say they review applications in the order they receive them, but I believe if they like you that you should get an interview. Hopefully I'm right because I just submitted my secondary 5 minutes ago. Lol

go hardest and furthest you can and see where you end up

Any ideas what to write for the optional essay?

I didn't write anything because I was told not to repeat myself... unless there was something that I couldn't explain elsewhere --such as academic problems or whatever. But I felt like I had explained any issues in my PS/DS

Gotcha. Do you guys think its prudent for me to explain a course I failed in freshman year? It was a math class that ended up not fulfilling any requirements. I've been getting a lot of advice to just bury it and not draw attention to it since my overall GPA is pretty good despite that course.

You can write about why you want to attend UCSF in particular. It's your chance to talk about how you'd be a great fit for this school.

I wrote about a certain educational challenge I overcame in school and how it would serve me well in dental school that I didn't have room to put in my PS. There are a ton of things. I like what SDDDAT said, write about the school.

is there anyone who left that section blank?

makes me anxious 🙁

I second this..

I left it blank too, i was scared of not mentioning something about a grade thinking they would assume i want it overlooked, but i briefly addressed it in my personal statement and everything else i covered in my primary app and secondary questions. i also assumed this optional part would be to explain perhaps if you fell ill and skipped a quarter, to explain why you have gaps or such in your transcript i don't know i just didn't want to repeat myself so i avoided it 🙁

can anyone let me know how to submit 2 pdf files for UCSF prerequisites? it only allows me to do one 🙁

Instead of uploading 2 different documents, try to figure out a way to save as a 2-page pdf doc so that one document is all you're uploading.

Hi thank you for getting back to me!
I tried doing that but it tells me to upgrade to Adobe pro and pay 14.95$/mo. LOL still trying to figure out what I should do...

Oh dang that sucks. Alright preview can do this for free if you have Mac. I know it says you have to use Adobe. So what I would try is to do each on Adobe separately. Save them. Then open in preview to combine. Save. Then open back up in Adobe and save again. And then try to upload that one. Make sense? Not sure if that will work but it's the best I can think of off the top of my head.

yep read this before posting the question.

thank you for the effort tho lol

Hey I had the same problem, using an apple computer I filled out everything on safari & saved the document & then did it again for extra classes & saved that separately, when you open the first file in preview you can click "edit > insert > page from file" and choose the second or first file depending on which one you opened then it will add the second page, then just "file > export PDF" 🙂

Just got an email from them saying my secondary was received and my application was now under review. Submitted on 7/27
