****The Official Univ. of Oklahoma Class of 2017 Interview/Acceptance Thread****

Lunch was a nice respite. I actually stopped thinking about it for a few minutes. I wish I could find something to take my mind off it now. Or, hey, they could just send the emails.

Does anyone know how many interviews were given? I know there are 56 spots available.

Haha! How much do you want to bet they are all at lunch, laughing at the thought of us agonizing over the wait, while sipping their margaritas?! 😉.

Looked at last year threat, email started sending out around 3:00 PM CST.

This year they interview 100+ (104 as I remember) in state, and 80+ (86 as I remember) OOS
for 56 seats, 42-43 in state seats, and 11-14 OOS seats.:scared:

So about a 41.3% chance of acceptance for in-staters. That's excluding weighted percentile depending on race/gender. Those odds don't look so bad. Lol

So that's 2.48 interviews per seat in state and 7.8 interviews per seat out of state. :xf:

How about the wait list procedure? How many get wait listed and what is the average movement/chances if you're wait listed? Any ideas?

Those are pretty good. Last year's average DAT was 20.6, right? And because of the cutoff at 17 the distribution curve should be highly negatively skewed. So if you're shy of the average, but pretty close, those are still really good odds right?

Well Dr. Jones said that they gave out around 35 invited to out of staters to fill 11 seats. I doubt very many in state students decide to go somewhere else.

Yes you're correct. Keep in mind, if you even got an interview, you made the first big cut. Although this is true, at the end we are still a number. Remember the scale they had for interview/DAT/GPA? They add them all together for one overall score. So if you're a little low on the DAT, but if you scored highly with the GPA and interview, you still have a very good chance. Plus I hear your 3 interviewers get to "vouch" for you. So at that "big meeting" they had Saturday, your 3 interviewers got to speak on your behalf. I'm not 100% sure if that's true, it's just what I heard through the grapevine.

Ok. Feeling better now. I was talking to one of the doctors who used to be on the Admissions Board and he said something similar. Although, if one of the interviewers didn't like you, then that can shut things down quick as well. I heard a story about a girl who addressed the interviewer by their first name and even though she had a phenomenal DAT score, she was not accepted.

But, I don't think that's anything any of us have to worry about. What are your stats DBombshell?

I got in! But I think maybe they're just doing them slowly because I know someone that got in about an hour ago.

I got the e-mail!

Accepted! Ah! I'm so excited!

I'm in-state.

Got alternate 🙁 Wish people with more offers would take them. This was my only interview

I just got an email from Sally Davenport. I am in.

I am out of state.

I just called OU. I didn't receive an acceptance nor alternate therefore I am denied. They were my only chance today...

Same boat, my one and only interview, OOS as well🙁 crying year after year🙁

I'm in state with 20 AA 3.70 GPA and 3.55 BCP and I didn't make it. Well, congrats to those who did. Hopefully I'll see you next year.

did they mention that they are completely done with oos offers?

How do you know that? Have you received email?

I called. They have already sent out all of the offers. Those who haven't received one yet will get an email later in the day explaining their "status".

The wait was just KILLING me, too, so I went ahead and called the school, as well. I was informed that I am on the waitlist. I spoke with Joi and she was very comforting and encouraging, but reminded me that nothing at this point is guaranteed so I should keep my feet on the ground. I called at 4:25pm CST and I'm out of state.

Joi also told me that everyone at some point will receive an email or communication regarding their status. So, to all those who don't know if it's yes or no yet, keep the faith.

I just received an email from sally indicating I am selected to be on alternate. It says I will be next to be notified. Did it say this for u guys ? Hopefully OOS alternate list moves fast

Alternate list are all interview applicants that do not get an offer. I'm in alternate list last year too. It did not move far since there were only 11-14 seats for OOS. 🙁

Waitlisted...darn it! 😡

Congratulations to all of those who got accepted! 🙂

just got the sad email....o well I'm going to UMKC!!!! good luck to everyone else =)

Waitlisted, OOS. But I most likely will not be attending.

BTW, all of the emails sound like YOU are the next to be notified if a spot opens up, but that is just a generality for the entire group.
