****The Official UT Houston Class of 2018 Interview/Acceptance/Rejection Thread*

So....are we going to ever hear back from Houston? :/
 
I haven't called. But I figure they will have to send out their batch this week since spring break is next week right?
 
It's been taking a lot longer than I expected. Thought we would hear something two weeks ago :/
 
Congrats to all who got accepted!
Anyone know how many more spots are left? I tried contacting Dr. Pierpont, but he isn't replying to this one..
I'm guessing they are out to fill up the last few spots at this point?
 
Has anyone tried calling UT? or did they advise not to call them during this whole process?

I just emailed drpierpont y'day and he replied today saying that they are "We are working through as fast as responses from applicants allows us to do so"

So it sounds like the only spots available are the spots that have/will be declined by other students that they have offered.
 
Hey everyone! I was accepted to Houston on Monday at around 2pm, and was accepted by San Antonio in January. I'm having a tough time choosing between the two schools now and I thought you all would have some great feedback. Which school would you prefer to attend if given the choice, and why?

Tough choice, and you really can't go wrong. I used location to decide, so for me it was Baylor>SA>Houston. In terms of the two schools, I think it's a feel thing. I was incredibly comfortable at all 3 schools, but I didn't want to move south. I would probably go with SA because you can get Invisalign certified in school and they seem to let their topmost students do more advanced stuff than the other schools I saw. Or just flip a coin.

But seriously, lay out your personal factors. If you think the schools are equal, then SA is like $5k cheaper and in a cheaper, less smelly city.

When you call in and ask they'll tell you they don't give out that information over the phone and to email them for a response.
 
Dr. P said that they hope to inform everyone of their status by early next week
 
Any idea if there are any open spots left? Or are we just waiting to see if we got on the wait list?
 
Don't know, he didn't say. I hope he meant status as in accepted or alternate by next week.. It's too earlier to be rejected :/ (wishful thinking)
 
I applied last year and didn't get the rejection until around the time school started if I remember correctly. But there's only a handful of people that get put on the alternate list. They send out emails to inform you if you're on it shortly after they May 1st deadline. If you don't get it it's basically a silent rejection. Or that's how it was last year. Don't know if they are changing up their protocol this year. Anyways, good luck!

Got the alternate list email this morning. Anyone know if there is usually movement from this list?
