So, I haven't taken a chemistry course since the fall before this past one...when I got a "C" in it.

Now I'm finally back on the bandwagon and taking my second chem course this quarter. My first day of class is tomorrow and I'm terrified of failure. I've had A's in everything else since that quarter, but am shivering at the thought of ruining everything again.

Pep talk please? =(

Believe in yourself. Don't get caught up in all the hype and worry. Stay inside your own mind and don't worry about what others may think or what grades they may be getting. Know that you are capable of learning the material and doing well and applying it during the exams. YOU GOT THIS! 👍

You've earned A's since that last C, so that shows you must be doing something right🙂. Remember a C isn't the end of the world, but at the same time I understand your desire to succeed and do well. Keep up your study habits and make sure to ask questions when you don't understand. You know you have it in you to do well.

Thanks. I needed that. Haha. 😳 I'm just overly concerned because I now associate chem with failure...lol.

use supplementary materials like barron's study guides to keep you on track!!

What you "did" or "didn't do" in the past doesn't necessarily hold true for the future. What did you learn from your previous experience? You are a different person now from the person that you were then. Don't fill yourself with negativity or you will "self-sabotage" and make the same mistakes. Remember, "those who do not learn from their mistakes are bound to repeat them". Don't be that person!

It was the same way for me with Calculus. The first quarter I hated the class, my teacher, and the material and ended up with a C. That was freshman year spring quarter. I ended up FINALLY feeling brave enough to take the second part of calculus in the summer before my junior year. It was AWESOME and I got an A. I loved it the second time around (admittedly i had a MUCH better teacher but still). You know what you did wrong and how to fix it. You'll be great. Go in there ready to kick some Chem butt 🙂
