can anybody please tell me what the PASS program is??.......I'm supposed to take NDB I test in december and I' so scared I wouldn't get accepted for advanced standing any where because I might get a low GPA after evaluation because of the grades I had back in school..........

I don't mind taking like a 4 year program but they told me I had to take the DAT !!!!!!!!!

please if you know any info that can help me I'll be forever grateful...........🙁

......

If you are to going to be taking the NDBE, what's so hard about the DAT? Think about it.

I have not taken the DAT, but it seems to me that the NDBE is much harder, so....

As far as GPA is, will you be using the same GPA to apply to PASS or to regular DDS program?
'cause if it is it will probably affect you the same way. So I really advice you study a lot for which ever test you decide to go for.
Start to hit those books!!!

Good luck!

I appreciate everyone who took the time to reply..........I'm really lost right now.....I don't understand the difference between PASS and advanced standing program.

and also why do I have to take the DAT if I already have a bachelor degree in dentistry 😕

.....anyway I registered for the NDB I in december and I'm already studying for it so I'll give it a shot and see what happens........and again thank you itsme and you meggs very much for your thoughts..........

I don't understand the difference between PASS and advanced standing program.

they are both the same its just that each college refers to it in a different way, advanced standing program, program for advanced standing students, international dentist program.... all the same.

why dont u just go ahead and evaluate ur gpa. and from what i have experienced there is a difference in the gpa evaluated with ece and wes. i happened to do my evaluation with wes(2 yrs ago as i was applying for an mba and the school required wes evaluation) and then just because some dental schools mentioned ece i got the ece evaluation done too. i had a better gpa with wes. dunno how that happens though.

if u get a good score in nbde 1 then it makes it easier for u to get into the advance standing program.

Don't confuse PASS (program for advanced standing students) as used by UPENN for example with ADEA's PASS (postdoctoral application support service). The former is a program which allows foreign trained dentists to earn USA DDS/DMD degrees in less than four years. The later is a central application service for holders of DDS/DMD degrees who wish to pursue speciality programs.

Wish I had known that sooner, with ECE my GPA fell by 0.1
if only I knew............ 🙁

thanks everyone........you sure gave me hope to go for.....I'll get my credentials evaluated and after taking the NDB I in december (which scares the crap outta me by the way 😱 ).........and then I'll go from there.......and maybe just maybe a university will take me...........

If your past scores are working against you that it very little you can do to change it but you can always make your resume stronger by either doing or assisting in a research in a dental school in your state or by doing a fellowship, they really like candidates who show interest in pursuing dentistry even if its in a small scale.

I dont know what the hell I am talking abt , I am so freaking high on vodka,,,,,,,, End of another quarter, I need to rest .😳 🙂
