The beauty of Chapel Hill surrounded my the mountains and happiness of Charlottesville, the southern super-star class of Duke with the legendary education of Wake Forest, peds experience of CHOP, trauma of Grady and Miami, cardiac experience of Duke and Emory, patient-oriented efficiency of the Mayo Clinic, regional experience of Duke and Virginia-Mason, OB experience of Grady, neuro experience from Hopkins and what do you get?

The perfect program for me.

Yes you mentioned Duke 3x too...

OP-

It seems that your idea of perfection is influenced by a desire to be in the southeast, or the south in general.

... or Seattle. I hope he's got Frequent Flyer memberships.

I like this post as it reminds me of the "perfect girl" concept that many of us dudes fall into which prevents us from fully committing to our current significant others. It's the "if only she was..." phenonmenon. We have this idealistic, untennable perception that we all deserve to be with a Jessica Biel look-alike who agrees with everything we say, thinks everything we do is awesomely funny or cute, unquestioningly gives us sex whenever we want it, and never questions our "authori-tay!" (etc. - or whatever your particular concept of perfection is). You get the drift. It's that false illusion that something better is out there, and if we could only build this Frankenstein-esque idea of perfection, we'd be perfectly happy. Point is, we probably wouldn't. If everything is perfect, we'd probably just be bored.

The fact is, just like there is no perfect woman out there, there is no perfect gas program. That's okay. Learning to deal with the parts of something you don't like is what builds character. You gotta find the best fit, and just learn to live with the relatively minor parts you don't like.

You guys rock!

Mostly looked in the southeast, so that's one reason Duke and Emory kept popping up. These are also programs I respect but may not rank highly. Also, Emory's it for many a mile around Atlanta, and the south still has its share of unhealthy folk. It's what Miami should aspire to program-wise.

I loved Seattle the one spring I was there. Again, spring. Spring. Not winter, Spring.

Travel? Heck, I think somebody should just step up and create the perfect southern program. I'll also say that my 1-3 aren't necessarily on this list or, if they are, not strongly represented; more of a gut-feeling, if you will.
