the prerequitsites question

since the prerequitsites are different from different schools, im so confuseed about it... i have few pharm school i would like to apply for, but their prerequitsites are different, what should i do? just take all the courses they require? lastly, does anyone go to temple university? how come their prerequitsites are kinda werid...

I printed out the prereqs for all of the schools i wanted, then highlighted the ones that were similar and took those first. Also, I looked to see what schools wanted you to be completed with prereqs before summer. For example.. LECOM wants everyone to be done by the end of the spring semester before pharmacy school starts, but some schools let you take prereqs up until august, so you can take summer classes. I took the classes that schools like LECOM wanted first, because i could take other prereqs over the summer if i got into those. Unfortunately, if you are applying to schools that want totally different things you are going to have to take useless classes.😱

Yes.

The only possible alternative is to see if you have already taken any classes that are similar - for instance, one schools requires a social science course and you've taken sociology - another school requires psychology instead. You could always check to see if sociology would be accepted. Some will tell you on the website what they will or will not accept, others you may have to email.

I understand the frustration though - I had a 4 year degree when I applied and I still had to take 5 classes as pre-reqs.

thats crazy...i dont know how this system works....For example, Temple university require "Mosaic I: Intellectual Heritage I" and "Race and Diversity"
i dont think my school has this kinda courses...

They most likely have them, they're just under different names. Usually you can call the admissions office and they can figure out what the equivalent course is.

Some schools have "articulation agreements" that they can e-mail/fax to you, which will say,

"Race and Diversity" - SOC 330 for School X, or SOC 115 for School Y.

Almost all of the Calif. schools have them on the website.

I was in your situation when doing my prereqs as well. I was applying to Temple and Jefferson which both have very different prerequisites. Temple wants more, and specific non-science courses. Jefferson requires A&P 1 and 2 as well as Microbiology, which Temple does not. I was just accepted to Temple a few weeks ago and will be going there in the fall. If you are wondering about the US Society, Race and Diversity, Mosaic 1 and 2, and Intellectual Heritage 1 and 2 then I can help. Intellectual Heritage can be substituted for Foreign Language courses. I took Spanish 101 and 102, which were cake because I took 3 years of spanish in highschool. I took a Soc 233 course labeled Race, Class, and Diversity which counted for BOTH US Society and Race and Diversity. As for Mosaic courses I took Philosophy 101 and Humanities 101. I also took Art History to complete the Arts requirement. I know macroeconomics was required 2 years ago when I took it, but now an economics may be acceptable.

its rare to require foreign language...(except for bachelor degree)
and most schools require for microeconomic...
do you think they would accept Psychology or socialogy for Society and Race and Diversity? its ok if you dont know, i should probably just email them

Yeah I kind of agree with u that some schools are confusing with their Prerequisite requirements........Just make a list of schools u want to apply for and than work on the prerequisites each of them require....most of them do have about 90% of same courses and about 10% differ. one of them is Biochemistry as it is required by some schools, but not by eveyone. Yes Temple University's prereqs look kinda wierd as the have MosiacI & II etc but most of these courses can be replaced by other gen.edu courses so u can actually call them up and inquire about the replacements for those courses.👍

For mosaic I and II, I was told philosophy, western civilization courses, or religion courses satisfy that requirement.

I'm not so sure what would be good for US Society (US history?), race and diversity, and international studies (maybe world history)?

How come all these texas pharmacy schools require Texas Constitution/Politics as a pre req to apply?! and also texas writing and literature too?! DO I NEED TO OWN A RANCH AS WELL? SORRY AMIGO but here in SW VA we only offer Deer hunting 101 with Lab!! Oklahoma state says that their Application is not online a...nd I have to drive there to pick one up or apply somewhere else?!! Go eat some jellybeans gone bad!!😡

The Texas Constitution/Politics course is the 2nd part of the 1 year series of the Government course. First we have to take Federal and then State Government (the course title will vary by institution). A lot of schools will require that you either have 1 or both sections of Government.

Just be glad you didn't have to sit through two years of Texas History in grade school.
