Or rather how to reject an applicant during an interview...SO THEY SAY IT'S ALL ABOUT THE STAT AND WRITING, HUH?
There's a saying....ask not what your GPA can say about you, but what you can do for your school....
Now, you got the grade or gpa, so what? now what can you do for the school? definitely your high gpa doesn't say much, really....
If a student say they volunteer in a pharmacy...then ask a general question about experience, then narrow in to how do you bill insurance, calop, hnet, pnca, etc etc....should be in details...
If a patient brought in pacific care insurance, and have children, how do you enter their children insurance in the computer or process it?, linking it to primary, etc etc...ask a really detail questions...see if they know how to process, or give a bs answer, etc
So you say got an A in so and so subject, can you tell us how you use your study method, etc to get the A? what you do know about the subject and how do you think it will help you in pharmacy school? for instance, you can link two subjects, biochemistry and (pharm), a critical thinking, what is the neurotransmitter level in patient with ....and why do you it would be important in pharm? (MOA)...
****side story: There was this girl who came in to my pharmacy last week and asking how she can work as technician...she said she just graduated from college. She does not know anything about being a pharmacy technician. I ask her if she has any experience. She said she volunteers (....ok)... I ask her if she know where to obtain information on being a technician, she say no. Check the Board of Pharmacy....hello... I ask if she will be taking the PCAT...she said no, because she only want to apply to California school....duh....okay. It looks like she know **** about pharmacy...so she volunteer and have no clue on how ....or even to get the requirement for a pharmacy job....****
Here's another general one....what can you contribute to the school? really....you got good grade blah blah...but what can you do? yeah there so much to do.....obviously, tuition and a potential to donate when you retire...but really? I regret that you are not selected based on your gpa
If you have more to add... go ahead...
