There were also the times I wanted to be a ballerina, an astronaut, a firefighter, and a zookeeper, clearly my desire to be these things trumps my physical or mental ability to be these things.

I wanted to be a ticket collector on the bus... (While back then they still had girls dressed in pretty cloth and short skirts with the perfect smile and manner next to the serious-looking bus drivers). She gave me some candies while I ride alone at age of 5 and I was sold!

My mom scolded me for that and said i would be poor and homeless for the rest of life. (She is so discriminated.)

Next thing I wanna be long-distance truck driver at age of 8! She scolded me again....

Now I realize UPS drivers make about the same as vets... Truck drivers make more? Maybe I should change my career again? Since I didn't want to become a vet until high school time so I won't be a good one? And apparently I will be a good truck driver...

Over the road truckers make bangin' bucks. My dad went to school to be a teacher, decided that rural high schoolers were all ****ty (and no corporal punishment anymore) so he quit and became a truck driver for almost 30 years.

2. When people start getting defensive, it's time to stop because no progress will be made in the discussion.

3. There have been some interesting points in this discussion despite the frustrations and all that, so cheers to everyone 🙂

One of my favorite "someone is wrong on the internet" stories was when I got into it with a girl on FB about cats spraying. She insisted that female cats were incapable of spraying, but they could "mark" and they were totally different processes. She knew this from her animal science courses at some community college where one of her profs claimed to be a cat expert. I quoted Cornell CVM and suggested she took her prof's expertise with a grain of salt.

You'd think so. I tried to emphasize that her vet might be against it for actual reasons, but she kept insisting that it'd be the best choice based on her "research"

OMG... I get so pissed when I read those raw websites that say healthy dogs CAN'T HAVE SALMONELLA because they have an enzyme that kills it that humans don't.

Of course, by definition they are right.... if you are healthy, you can't be sick. 🙄

But seriously. Dogs don't get salmonella? Did anyone even bother to check?
Penn has a clinical trial studying salmonella in dogs... i wonder where all there subjects come from if dogs don't get it?

well dogs do tend to be subclinical. But that doesn't mean they don't get it and don't carry it
