Hey everyone, I bumped into this article this morning and it caught me by surprise ... I have a few friends in the field here in NY and NJ and they all seem to be upset regarding their money situation ( even those in private practice). I always took what they were saying with a grain of salt as they always seemed very busy ( and i also refer to PT alot pre/post surgery). Is the reality of PT money similar to what this article shows? Does one need to work 7 days to make 100k with that much debt??!! or it depends ?

I'd say typical is 60-80k without side hustles. Different areas of PT have different price points. But not the career to go into to make the big bucks. And the debt crisis is real. However, skimming that article, that is some really bad money management! University of St Augustine is also one of the most expensive schools as it is for profit.

I hope she finds Dave Ramsey soon...

I am making mid 90sK and work 40h a week. The work is pretty easy and low stress as well. So I would say your income will depend on the setting where you work and location. NY must be crazy expensive. I could never understand how PTs could survive there.

Got it... Can anyone chime in on the ins and outs of running a private practice? typical overhead, avg gross and net etc ?

I think this woman may be an anomaly. She has some spending issues. She remarked how she likes to buy quality over quantity, but the clothing brands she listed like Acne and Margiela are not just “quality clothes”. They’re luxury brands that have shoes and clothes well over $1000.
