i was wondering what the real dat is like form you veterans. Im taking a lot of the kaplan subject tests and notice that their calculations for gen chem can become confusing and tedious. Is the real dat this detailed with gen chem? Also how is the PAT compared to achiever. I noticed on achiever the key holes are ridiculous, topscore is a lot more do able. Also is the hole punching more like achiever or topscore?

Thanks

With gen chem the calculations are really easy. If you know PV=nRT you pretty much knew the calculations for my test. Achiever's PAT is ridiculous compared to the real thing. I would say the keyholes are easier than achiever for sure, the same with hole punching. I got a 15, 16, 16 for the achiever PAT and 18 on the real thing. I actually thought I would do a lot better than I did but it was in the 83 percentile. Anyway good luck and dont stress out too much about it since that will only make you do worse

Thanks thats good to hear. I was asking because it seems like the more knowledge I gain the more confused im getting. Theres entropy for ya.

Did any of you guys have any topics you wished you covered more thoroughly when you started taking the exam?

I hear theres a lot of ecology, physiology, and genetics on the bio portion.

Thanks

yea there's definately a favoritism with ecology and genetics, I suggest you thouroughly know how to do any punnet square problem with blood types and recessive genes etc.. and also have a very good understanding of the hardy weinberg equation, and I mean a VERY GOOD understanding

thanks for the advice,

ive been taking achiever and the gen chem is killing me. I hope its nothing like that on the real DAT. I also wanted to reconfirm, theres a 15 min tutorial between the SNS and PAT section right?? So you can take a quick break to refresh your mind after the SNS and get your scratch paper ready?

there is a tutorial BEFORE the SNS & PAT...that is when I set up my PAT scratch paper... And remember, as soon as you click end for the SNS (or time runs out), your PAT time starts. And don't read the first few pages of each section in the PAT, they explain what you are supposed to do as if you don't even know what the PAT is....you will already know how to do each section after achiever and topscore.
