As a fellow dentist, I am saddned by this behavior as it casts a very negative perception of our profession to the general public. It was extremely hard for me to read through all the responses and for the love of God, I hope the story is not true. To all my future colleagues, the image of our profession is in your hands. Remember what you are trained for and that is being a health care professional. You are a doctor and you must act and behave as one. Put your patient's interest first ahead of your own and do not let greed or addiction to power and wealth to get the best of you. Good luck! DP

I'm sure he has consent from the patient, and the money will likey go to charity. If this were true, then I don't see a problem with it. If not, thats sketchy-but I don't think he would compromise his status for some rotten teeth.

The article is FAR from unbiased. Dentists collect teeth all the time. This is nothing new. Walk into any oral surgeons office and you'll probably see several jars of teeth being saved for future dental students. I'm sure he has obtained consents from all his patients prior to releasing any private information anyways. I doubt he is hoarding these teeth without his patients knowledge or consent.

I do not have any issues with him collecting the teeth whether he has consent or not. You are right, collecting teeth is nothing new.
